More: Baklava is a sweet Mediterranean dessert made with layers of Phyllo dough, nuts, and honey. After baking, a sweet syrup is poured over the pieces allowing the syrup to be absorbed into the layers of dough. 🤤

It is expected to date back to the 8th century B.C., originally prepared by the Assyrians. The treat was baked exclusively on special occasions, hence Baklava was originally a treat for the rich who could afford such a luxury.

A poor man used to exclaim, “I am not rich enough to eat Baklava in my house.” Things have changed over the years. Now, you can order baklava anytime and you do not have to be a millionaire to enjoy the great taste.
