There are a few things I find to be most important in a situation like this, the MAIN one being that if it’s something you want to do and you think it would make you feel good, it’s absolutely worth trying!

People are definitely going to comment, but that lasts a few days max, and the likelihood of getting bad reactions is pretty low overall.

For such a big change it’s always possible to work your way up to it, starting with just a shorter cut in general and gradually going shorter until you’re bald. It can make it a little easier.

Most importantly, though, it’s always reversible with time if you try it and end up hating it. That was kinda what pushed me to shave my head for the first time and I’m still bald three years later so it worked out pretty well haha
