I'm not a Hero, I'm a Legend

“i know most superhero vigilantes were missing but there other people were helping. i mean did you see that robin chick? she seems cool.”

“I don’t think I saw her.” Ray replied, not certain if the girl had been addressing him or not, but answering politely nonetheless. He had been fairly busy himself during the latest happening, patrolling as ATOM and keeping the heroes locked up in S.T.A.R appraised of the situation. “But the Robins usually work out of Gotham with Batman don’t they?”

ATOM: I'm doing aerial patrol of the city, there's a lot happening at once.

ATOM: If there's anywhere specific you need me to head first, let me know.

Stop being so stubborn and let me help.

“Okay, okay. I forgot how bossy you could be.” Ray scooted over and let Felicity at his laptop. “You choose the hamper for my Mom’s birthday.”

“Morning, Gideon.” Carter issued a casual salute to the air around him in response to the ship AI’s acknowledgment of his return to the ship. “Ray!” Carter called back with a bright grin as he slipped in through the door to the bridge, chuckling a little at the other man’s not so subtle digging into his recent absences from the ship. “Something like that.” He answered evasively. Much as he wanted to tell Ray about his burgeoning relationship with Tommy, he was unsure how the other man would take it, considering their shared history with Kendra. If anyone could come close to understanding their soulmate bond it would be Ray, but he knew even then he might struggle to wrap his head around it. “I’ve just been visiting a… very good friend, who came back to town recently. Catching up.”

“I don’t blame you at all. Being out in the fresh air and experiencing real gravity after long stints on board is a welcome change.” Though he hadn’t really expected to be given all the details of Carter’s recent visits to the city, he could sense there was more left unsaid. But he wouldn’t push, certain that Carter would tell him in his own time. “Seems to be a lot of us coming back to town recently.” He mused, thinking of their own reappearance as well as Tommy coming back from europe. “I ran into someone I hadn’t seen for months when I was at Verdant a few nights before the whole garden thing. Completely unexpected, but it was nice to catch up.”

A dazzling grin brightened the curly haired woman’s already naturally jubilant visage, her hands drawn together in a clap of gratitude. She’d only just met the man yet painted him as a serendipitous savior in this instant. Kory’s excursions to the Waverider were generally spent with its captain, and luckily, her first experience with another of its passengers was a pleasant affair. “Delighted to meet you Ray. Lovely name, Ray. I once had an affair with a man named Ray. Very possessive and unfortunately short-lived but glorious. You are much more handsome than he was” briefly Kory’s emerald stare took on a hazy glimmer as if she were remembering before they snapped back to his. “My name is Kory and I am in your debt” she beamed, her floating form seeming to lift higher at the mention of dinner. “I’m usually rather good at directions but sometimes I just go and hope to get where I need to be by luck alone” her head cocked in amusement “Not really the best plan but luckily you’ve come along”

Seemingly unbothered that she’d rambled far past an acceptable limit for a first conversation – not to mention divulge some intimate details – she twirled once mid air and motioned for him to lead the way. “After you”

She was very enthusiastic and joyful, which made his own spirits lift, even more than usual. Though naturally buoyant, he tried not to be overly chipper at times as for some reason it could rub his teammates the wrong way. As his name was complimented, Ray felt a blush flare in his cheeks and he ducked his head for a second, not quite sure what to say to the slight excess of information he’d been given. “Oh, thank you,” another blush followed the word handsome, but he smiled gratefully. “It’s a pleasure to meet you, Kory.” He noted the way she levitated a little higher at the mention of food and grinned, knowing she’d definitely fit in on board with that food loving attitude. “Unfortunately all the corridors on the Waverider look the same, so it’s easy to lose your way when you’re new to the ship.”

No matter how many chances she got to explore the winding chrome corridors of the Waverider Kory was realizing she’d never quite recall where exactly everything was located. To be fair, everytime she did pay the timeship a visit she was effectively distracted by following Sara around like a levitating puppy. The sashay of that woman’s hips was enough to capture all of her attention. Unfortunately her wildfire wasn’t available for the surplus affection threatening to spew from her fingertips in tiny arches of sunshine. Admittedly she might have been overbearing since her lover recovered from the toxin. The events that unfolded that night were not easily shaken and she worried of her mental state. So she attempted to heal her the only way she knew how. With adoration and an overact libido. Without the blonde to entertain, she lasted approximately half an hour in her quarters before she tired of her stationary state and decided to wander. 

And wander she did. 

Clutching her abdomen, Kory glanced up and down the gleaming halls with widened eyes. Hadn’t she already been down this route before. To think she used to think Titan Tower was a endless labyrinth of passageways. Just when she’d resolved to abandoned all hope she spotted a figure at the end of the hall. “Oh thank goodness,” she proclaimed, lifting into the air and soaring towards him. “Can you please tell me where the kitchen is, I haven’t eaten since at least…twenty minutes ago” 

So far he hadn’t managed to run into the guest who had boarded the ship with Sara after the wild garden of Central. Gideon had informed the team of a temporary shipmate, but hadn’t elaborated any further. While Ray would normally have made an attempt to introduce himself, he didn’t feel that intruding in the Captain’s quarters would have been a wise move. Instead he’d kept mostly to his own room and the lab, with brief forays to the kitchen and bathroom when necessary.

He was headed to the galley when an unfamiliar voice called out to him and he smiled in welcome as the young woman flew down the corridor toward him. “Oh, sure. I was on my way there to start dinner. I’m Ray.”

“Scouts honor,” she crossed an ‘x’ along her heart. “I wouldn’t say that but I appreciate you for saying that. A lot of people say the same about you, Ray.” 

“That sounds beautiful. I mean who doesn’t love a good D&D night, right? Do you think about starting a family? My cousin and I were talking about the future and he wants to start his own family. It’s a big step, you know?”

“You were a Scout too?” He smiled at her promise, shaking his head slightly as Kara turned the compliment back on him. “Thank you for saying that.”

“Sorry.” Lena replied with a small laugh, chagrined at her less than polite greeting in the face of Ray’s unfailing optimism. “So, you had a run in with Mxyzptlk too?” She questioned before leaning up to give him a brief kiss to the cheek in greeting. “It’s good to see you too, Ray.”

          𝐇𝐀𝐑𝐋𝐄𝐘 𝐊𝐍𝐄𝐖 𝐈𝐍  order to customize a car, she needed to have one. She wants to build a Harlemobile, if Batsy can have one, she can create one for herself, with a space to carry two hyenas. The problem is she has no idea where would she find a place to build a car like that, or perhaps she should stick with ‘normal’ cars, so small details like this wouldn’t have be a problem. ❛ Oh, I’d love that! ❜ In regards to have the number of the company. ❛ It was, until it sink on the water. Maybe my next car could be a Tesla, or Lambo. I dunno. I still looking for models. ❜

Pulling out his phone, he scrolled though the contacts until he found the paint shop and wrote the number out neatly for Harley on the back of one of his own business cards. “Here you go.” Passing the card to her, he gave a little apologetic smile, “Either of those would be good. Teslas are really advanced. “I suppose I should take myself home before I fall asleep again. Hope you enjoy your pizza.”

“I’m sorry,” Amaya winced, knowing all too well of the pain. “Good thing ice cream has magic healing powers, right?” she joked, and after taking a couple scoops, she slid the carton and extra utensils across the table to him. “Such good intentions. I always say I’m only going to eat a certain amount of it, but then I want more… to the point there’s not much left to save. And then I’m miserable when I finish it,” she agreed, slipping a spoonful into her mouth. Amaya hummed in interest as Ray explained what he’d been working on that left him in dire need of sleep. “Oh really? And how is it going? Have you made much progress?”

“It definitely has healing powers.” Ray nodded, a sleepy little smile on his face. He wasn’t entirely sure, but he may have missed a meal or two in the last 24 hours. So the ice cream sounded extra appetising just then. “Strawberry and cream was my favorite to snack on during college.” Putting a couple of scoops into his bowl, he took his first taste and licked the spoon clean. “It’s going well, Zari’s coding has been tweaked a little so there are different settings. Kind of like the phasers in Star Trek.”

Left by the others to a quiet ship and a pizza with the Doc, Mick was okay with the break. And now that he knew that Ray was in some kind of relationship with Caitlin Snow it suddenly made his friend that much more interesting right now. “You’re just full of surprises, aren’t you Haircut?” Mick was practically giddy for this little nugget of news, trying to prod him for more information. He also noticed how much more of a smile there was on Ray’s face now too. “You dog, I didn’t think you had it in ya. Then again, I guess it does make sense. After all, you two are both…” Mick paused, searching for the right word to use and took a few extra moments to find it. Doctors? Scientists? Geniuses?

“…Nerds.” Lifting his slice of pizza up as if to toast his friend and the newly discovered relationship, Mick wondered if Amaya knew anything about it either. Since they’d gotten together he found himself slightly more interested in the goings-on of their teammates… He’d never thought he’d have seen the day when he first joined up with the Legends, but there were lots of things he was surprised by these days.

“So you’ve had dinners with her. Any breakfasts?” Mick asked, an eyebrow quirked in interest.

“Well I try not to be too predictable,” Ray chuckled, feeling a little embarrassed by all the interest Mick was paying to his fledgling relationship. “I mean, I have dated before, Mick. So you must have had an inkling.”

A snort of amusement followed the word Mick finally settled upon to describe both himself and Caitlin. Compared to a lot of people, he supposed he was a nerd, though he wasn’t sure if Caitlin fit in the same category. “No. No breakfasts yet.” Ray smiled, looking a little uncertain, perhaps he was taking things too slow.

“It’s just some burns. Besides my powers are fine now…they just got whammied. Trust me, I’ll live,” Cisco shrugged as he looked down at his now bandaged hands. The fluke mishap of his powers did concern him, but not to the point where he cared. “The city is what we should be focusing on right now, not me.”

“Gideon could fix that up in no time for you, if you wanted?” Ray piped up as he wandered into Cisco’s side of the S.T.A.R labs cortex. After everything that had happened, Ray was staying indefinitely in Central, though the Time Courier on his wrist ensured he could get back to the Waverider whenever they called. “What do we need to focus on next. I have contractors already starting to rebuild the domiciles caught in the crossfire.”

Tommy kept his eyes shut during their flight through the vents, the lightheaded feeling he’d felt just after shrinking down getting more and more prominent. He only opened them when Ray had set him down on the ground, his eyes adjusting to the seemingly endless hallway they were both standing in. The same tingling sensation came over him as he grew back to normal size, but the lightheadedness persisted. He shrugged it off, assuming it was a side effect of the shrinking technology Ray used. 

He shook his body out for a few seconds before heading to a terminal a few feet away. He peeled off an access panel, placing a small circular device on the motherboard that would establish a direct connection between the Mercury Labs system and his remote hacking device. “It shouldn’t take too long, but… The encryption is kind of tough to crack.” He continued working, trying to slip past the numerous firewalls in the system. “So The Atom, huh?”

While Tommy readjusted to being the right size, Ray went to work letting the suit’s AI interface with the labs’ security camera network. A tiny screen popped up on the inside of his visor displaying each feed in turn. Looked as if the labs were far from empty, a few civilians remained inside, but mostly there were figures in dark clothes patrolling the hallways with purpose. “We’re all clear for now... but we don’t have long. There are people here who don’t look like your average security staff.”
