Django Unchained REVIEW
CI've been putting off this movie for too long. I honestly have no idea why. Django Unchained is another action packed Quentin Tarantino fun fest. If you can get into seeing gruesome amounts of blood and death, then you should be able to make it through this movie.
Django Unchained is a pre-civil war movie that acts like a western... kind of. DU tells the story of a German bounty hunter (Dr. Shultz) that frees a slave (Djano) so that he can have help collecting some bounties. The movie features Jamie Foxx as Django, Christoper Waltz as Dr. Shultz, and Leonardo DiCaprio as Calvin Candie.
First of all, Christoper Waltz and Leonardo DiCaprio excellently play their roles. Leo makes an incredible villain in this movie. Don't get me started on Waltz though. In my opinion, Waltz steals the show. I don't think I would have enjoyed Django Unchained as much if Christopher Waltz wasn't in it. Speaking of Django, Jamie Foxx is okay. This may be just because of my disliking of his acting, but he didn't stand out too me that much. However, I will say that Foxx played his role well... which is pretty much just a silent badass.
Django Unchained's soundtrack is near perfect too. The movie opens with a catchy theme song about Django. Django's soundtrack is predominantly western rock, except for the one out of place rap song. The scene with Rick Ross' song "100 Black Coffins" is awesome, but it just doesn't feel right with the overall theme of the movie.
VERDICT:
Django Unchained is a bloody good time. Fans of Tarantino's past films will not be disappointed. Django Unchained is worth a buy on Blu-Ray.
