Beowulf struggling to tell Franz he loves and cares about him so it manifests as him holding him back drives me crazy

Gets him into it, knows he has potential and merit, but worries so much that he starts to try to keep him off the battlefield and encourage him to stop so he doesn't get hurt or worse because he loves him and doesn't want to see that happen to him, but this emotionally constipated traumatized grandpa can't let himself be vulnerable and just tell Franz that he loves him and is worried about him getting harmed so that Franz could know which has just built on to this resentment on Franz's end
