raulcastillo So excited to share this with you all. My dear friend, the brilliant journalist and writer Maria Hinojosa @maria_la_hinojosa has published her new book Once I Was You. Just received my signed copy in the mail and I couldn’t be more thrilled. Earlier this year I was honored when Maria asked me to read the galley proof of what was to be her new book. I was a huge fan of Raising Raúl, her chronicle of motherhood and parenting. She has the gift of taking her own personal experience of a subject and examining it through a universal lens. Here she tackles immigration in the U.S. She tells us the story of her own family’s migration to this country and through that examines the current state of things. She gets to the hard truths. As a first-generation Mexican American, her story hits close to home. I encourage you all to pick up a copy. raulcastillo Tribeca Film Fest was cancelled so now you will have to wait to see Chad Hartigan’s LITTLE FISH (about love in the time of a pandemic - yup🤯). In the meantime, I share this photo that @chadhartigan took of me and @sokothecat during filming in Vancouver. The script by @mattsontomlin was gorgeous, I hope we did justice to @ajagabel ‘s short story.
