âReally? And theyâre cooperating withâŚnon-native dumer?â She gave an exagerated gasp, and then grinned, âSorry. Couldnât help that one.â
She stood up as well, pushing her chair in and tucking a tip under the napkin. The food had been quite good, sheâd admit. âI would greatly appreciate that. This city is so strange; it seems like everything is made out of wood. As I recall, evem Burma used stone with their wood. Been a little over two hundred years since I was there thoughâŚâ
âGuess thereâs little choice left of whom to cooperate withâ Rathir shrugged as he began to lead her outside. He winces at the transition outside, even though as wrapped up as he is the sun still manages to weaken him.
âA surprise the dragons havenât burned it all down yetâ
Shenanigans in Vivec
âSorry,â Renaldys took his helmet off and balanced it on his hip, beaming practically as bright as the sun with the tiniest mischievous twinkle in his deep crimson eyes.Â
âIt can be a little intimidating, here let meâŚâ he fished around in his kilt until he pulled out a âGuide to Vivecâ pamphlet, complete with little map. âthere we go. Are you looking for anything in particular, or do you just want to know about some specific places and services?â
Rathir was not going to take his helmet off and just nodded as he took the pamphlet. He leafed through it, âI am looking for some new smithing toolsâ Might as well get that out of the way before he forgets.
A vampire out in the sun? What kind of twisted world was this? Vampires were bad enough when they could only go out at night? Now he had to worry about them during the day too? Spirits help him he needed to get home.
âDämonenbrut, demon spawn.â Raserei answered flatly.Â
The more important question Raserei had was what game was this thing playing, but he wasnât sure he wanted to ask.  He wasnât even sure if he should let it live.  But it did help himâŚ
The barbarian sighed and put his weapons away. They wouldnât do much against a vampire anyhow, let alone one who was strong enough to survive the day. And besides if did attack him it would be in for a nasty surprise.Â
âSo like a daedra?â Yikes. Now that's a âfriendâ to make on the road. Rathir whistles âYou look tense for someone who just tore through all these menâ
His own appearance was obviously aggravating him too, Rathir ducks behind some cover to change back out of sight.
((Iâm feeling a bit out lately. Here tho, have a grumpy pic))

The barbarian snarled at the creature, unsure if he believed itâs words. Â Raerei normally wasnât one to judge considering not only what he looked like, but what ran in his blood. Â And it wasnât like demonâs were known for the their kindness nor their spawn. Â Still, this was a strange land and he didnât know what was a wolf in sheepâs skin.Â
But his blood made it hard to think straight, to form thoughts.Â
Rip itâs heart out. Raserei turned his head as if to look at something only he could see and whispered something in a guttural tongue.
âWas bist du?!â Raserei demanded, âWhat are you?âÂ
Rathir looked down at the possibly daedric barbarian and was not willing to leave the advantage of his safe perch. This had turned from a simple bandit brawl to a standoff...he really should just have passed by and let this play out on its own.   Noticing a few arrows still sticking out from where his armor had not covered him Rathir griped the shafts and pulled them out with not much care for proper removal. Heâll heal anyway.
âA vampire, and what are you?â No need to hide what he was in this form.
((Ah man, I don't know. I was so excited to write this guy at first but compared to others he doesn't seem so well thought out, or well my ideas for him just seem dumb and silly now. ))
Burn the what? The barbarian finished off those attacking him and turned to see what one of the archers were going on about.  Had someone else joined the battle? There before him finishing off the archers was thisâŚmonstrosity.Â
Where was the elf?! Was that the elf? The demon spawn thought he looked ugly, but that thing was on a whole new level of hard to look at. Granted it still not as bad looking a full fledged demon.Â
âFos ko faal Vulzid!â Raserei boomed in Abyssal at the creature.Â
He just hoped he didnât have a new enemy to deal with, he just wanted to get to an inn and eat food and find a a way home. Still this creature riled up Rasereiâs blood, it reeked of death.
Kill it! Find itâs power in the blood. Â Carve it slowly so we might enjoy.
The barbarianâs eyes began to darken, black filling them like ink and his muscles twitched as they thickened.  Whatever this thing was, if it made one wrong move he was going to gore it.Â
Apparently his current ally did mind! Judging from the way he looked over and yelled out in a harsh language Rathir did not understand. He assumed it to be a threat either way...
Ducking away and flinging a dead archer at one of the last remaining bandits Rathir half jumped half flew up with the help of two dessicated looking âwingsâ onto a crumbling ledge of the fortress âI am helping you!â He hoped that the scary barbarian heard him right
An arrow seemed to appear in one of the bandits that were attacking; he turned his head to see where this arrow came from to see he had gained an ally for the moment. Raserei took this advantage to push his advantage.
âSeht hekem tayem ayem!â Raserei boomed in abyssal at the possible ally, âShoot the archers!â he added realising the person might have understood a damn thing he had said.Â
The barbarian swung his hammer down on one of the bandits as they filed out, the head of the hammer crushing the manâs head and stopping at the base of the neck. Another bandit swung an axe into his side, it mostly hit his scales but pierced some of his skin at the end of itâs slash. He dropped his spear when they were now upon him and just used his massive warhammer to deal with those attacking him.
Do not make haste, we wish to taste their fear.Â
At first the shouting made him doubt that he chose the right target until he understood what exactly the frightening man was screaming. Rathir shrugged in reply and took aim at one of the archers letting another arrow fly.
His interference has earned him several arrows in turn in his chest. âOofâ Painful...but he was dead and itâd heal rather quickly...as long as no one got in a lot of chops and he got out of the sun. Did not seem like anyoneâd get past the other terror ripping apart the rest of them!
Fwoop fwoop. He stepped aside several more projectiles and scowled. Then a wicked idea hit him...he doubted that his temporary ally would mind...maybe.
Ducking behind a tree Rathir concentrated on awaking his âvampire lordâ form, a painful sensation rippled through his body as it changed and made him growl out loud.
After it was over he peeked back out at the battle field, at the now shocked archers who had been aiming his way.
âBurn the vam-â One of them began before being hit with a life draining spell.
Some musings regarding Morrowind appropriate desserts. Only subtly sweet, marshmerrow being practically only local sweet ingredient. So thereâs saltrice cakes filled with comberry, marshmerrow both dried and jellied, comberry jam, Kwama egg and seed paste tarts.

Shenanigans in Vivec
The sun was just barely up and already it was promising to be another hot Ascadian day. Renaldys Indoril leaned against the canton banister, watching as the sun started to creep further up into the sky, as the birds lifted from the trees and tall mushrooms to begin their daily search for food, as the water turned an inviting turquoise and fish could be seen, swimming along the canals.
He took a deep breath of fresh air and smiled. Really, this was his dream job; doing what he loved in a paradise. If only there was more excitement from time to time.Â
Below him he saw a figure swathed in netch leather, hunched in on themselves, seemingly somewhat lost. Not being one to use ramps like a normal mer, Renaldys swung himself over the banister, casting slowfall as he went so he landed softly.Â
âCan I help you find something, sera?â
The coast seemed to be clear, despite his uncomfortable situation the shade from the canton provided enough momentary relief for him to act less like some shady thug skulking around.Â
But as he straightens up Rathirs worst fears seem to be realized when an Ordinator floats down from the level above. Was he being that obvious?! At first he stumbled back but decided that to run would be even more suspicious.
âOh...you surprised me.â Rathir began, worried voice muffled by his helmet âYes you could help me, Iâve never been to Vivec before and hardly even know where to beginâ He chuckled âI suppose that was obviousâ
Shenanigans in Vivec
It was already nearing sunrise by the time that Rathir had spotted the cantons of Vivec and soon the sunâs rays were shining softly across the land as he quickly crossed the bridge into the Foreign Quarter.Â
He had no time to spare the amazing sights at this moment...not with the sun out despite how wrapped up and hidden he was in a hood and full netch leather helmet. This poor unfortunate and dusty looking adventurer made a trek through the Molag Amur region from some particular dwemer ruins which he had called âhomeâ for quite some time now.
Honestly Rathir was relieved to get away from the rest of the Berne for at least a little while. He just made some excuse that he needed new tools to work his best and that he did not trust the rest of them to get anything of quality. He was allowed to go, heâd be back. Like the rest of them he knew he had no where else to go. But a small vacation was worth a bit of trouble.
Rathir looked for a way inside so that he could hide from the sun, it burned him even through his layers...at least it felt like it. He tried his best to hide his discomfort from the cityâs signature guards.
((Morrowind-ish timeline Berne Rathir is kinda even creepier then usual honestly. Those three Vvanderfell clans really aren't even trying to fit in. Though bet they could get away with it if they wore full helmets...but then the ingame book âTrapâ comes into mind with a bunch of Berne being creepy))

She shifted uncomfortably, rubbing the scars across her knuckles unconsciously. âThat seems to largely depend in my experience.â She spread her hands, âI donât miss the Cammona Tong. Saints and Daedra, they were a pain in my ass. Still around, mind you, but their influence is pretty weak these days.â
âWell I suppose I should formally speak to the Thane first. Got in so late last night that I didnât have a chance to set anything up. Thaneâs palace isâŚwhere?â
He remained silent for a bit, processing what she had said about the Cammona Tong and all. It was hard to see though those eye hiding goggles but he was probably watching her. âGot an ex-Tong down in the Ratway, says they split to the nine winds so yeah. I doubt theyâre going to be a problem for a whileâ
Rathir stood up quiet as a shadow âI can show you to the palace, doesnât stand out as much as in other holds.â

âIt only matters forâŚdiplomatic purposes. Stormcloaks seem to be far less interested in dealing with me than the Imperials butâŚthe empire is only interested because they want Morrowind back. Over my dead body. Fucking civil war.â
She grinned at him, pleased to have made him laugh. âThings I never thought Iâd miss; organized crime. Turns out itâs better than disorganized crime, eh?â She downed the last of her cider and pushed it aside, thinking. âWell I canât think of shit to do with honeyâŚother than put it in tea maybe. The only reason I came down here at all was hoping for some pull on that Ulfric charecter butâŚlooks like I might not find that here. What about these Blackbriars, tell me more about them?â
âIt can be pretty profitable when you have a guild to back you upâ He spoke pretty generally about. The implication he is giving is pretty clear thought that they are involved with quite the hush hush operations.
âNot sure what more I can say about them really, they are the big rich influential family of the townâ

She grumbles something near intelligible about donât give a flying fuck what the fucking lizards think, but does follow his gaze.Â
âJoy, I love political corruption.â Her voice drops a little more, âSo, stormcloak or Imperial?â And a little louder, âDo they export anything other than mead?â
âCurrently the cityâs stormcloak territory. If youâre asking my side, neitherâ He âAnd er...a good question. Are thieves an export?â He laughs at his own joke and gives his knee a slap, being unexpectedly animated when he isnât trying as hard to not be noticed. âHoneyâs an export too I heard, whatever doesn't get bought up for the meadâ

âSounds about right. Let me tell you, living in Blacklight for a century was no picnic; itâs practically in fuckin Argonia, and theyâre still pissy with us over the whole invasion fiasco, even though they fuckin started it. Itâs also hot and fucking humid there. I actually prefer the cold to the humidity.â She noticed him looking at her food and decided to eat quicker.
âTrust me, I got nose to tentacle with a couple ascended sleepers. Nothing scares me anymore.â
âSo, what can you tell me about this here city?â
âI wouldnât say that so loudâ He sneaks a look at the Argonian couple who run this inn, which looks too shady and intimidating then it was meant to be. He turns his attention back to her, âThe cityâs Riften, home to the thieves and the Black Briar meadery, that family has arguably more influence in the city then the thane does. The poorer folk live in the houses beneath and the ratway, some in the bunkhouse. Not much more then that to say, its warmer here then most of Skyrim but I donât find myself minding the cold.â
