Raa🐅

it was a few weeks before the inter-high. the air was cool against your skin as you rode beside him, nothing but the sound of the breeze rustling the leaves of the nearby trees and your tires against the road. a few birds chirped in the distance.

his tall frame riding in front of yours was intimidating. his riding form wasn't exactly neat, but you could tell he was in a leisurely mood. or so you thought. until:

"(l/n)-kun."

you snapped out of your trance and replied with a simple "hm?"

"I was thinking. want to visit my mother's grave with me? not that I care if you go or anything, because I'm definitely going."

oh, but you knew he cared. and knowing that meant you also knew how things would turn out if you said no.

and here you were at the cemetery. it was a long ride, so the both of you were a bit exhausted. he led you through all the tangled vines and overgrown vegetation. some branches stuck out from the sides of the ground in the narrow pathway, cutting your bare ankles. you winced slightly, unsure if it was enough to shed blood.

your mind was racing. you didn't know how to comfort people much, especially when they're socially awkward like midousuji was. and you definitely didn't know how to handle a situation that involved the deceased.

but it all left your mind as soon as he stopped walking. you slightly bumped into him from behind at the sudden halt. you stepped beside him to find him facing the grave.

his usual wide, blank stare was fixated on the tombstone. except this time you could sense the emotions overwhelming him. the family monument was shrouded in flowers and offerings. his gaze drifted to the incense sticks beside the photo frame, and then to the ground.

your eyes widened when you saw the tears streaming down his face. it was unusual. no sobs, no shuddering, and no automatic desire to hide it like normal people. just tears. falling, falling, and falling like every drop had somewhere to be.

what hit you the most was when he grabbed your hand. your eyes widened in a mixture of shock and sympathy. part of you wanted to rush over to him and pull him into a tight embrace. the other part of you knew how difficult of a person he was, and wanted to respect his space.

you made the final decision of slowly rubbing his back in soothing motions, and you could feel his labored breathing. his torso rose and fell as he gasped.

and here it came. he was done hiding it. there were more tears now. more than he was capable of hiding.

he craned his whole body downwards to seek comfort in your presence. he pulled you into his chest and sobbed into the crook of your neck.

you were in an awkward position and wanted to comfort him back, but was unable to do so. you wanted to give him some words of comfort, but then realization hit you like a train. he didn't want your words. he didn't need your touch.

"it's you, (l/n)-kun. you're my yellow."
