#UJAMAA essays on socialism articulates the governing philosophy of 1960s Tanzania. This book includes the 1962 "Ujamaa-The Basis of African Socialism" and "The Arusha Declaration," as well as "Socialism is not Racialism" and "Education for Self-Reliance." These anti-imperialist anti-capitalist essays deeply impacted my analyses and practices while in TZ nearly 4 years ago. A mentor told me to read it 7 years ago, but i was stubborn and lacked scholarly discipline. For those seeking alternatives to individualism and white supremacy capitalism would benefit from reading the words of Mwalimu (teacher) Julius Nyerere.
