When the first time I saw Grisha and his first wife, I thought that they are like Eren and Armin in alternate universe where Eren marry Armin (if he was a woman). This could be that Isayama have limited archetype characters, because I can see the similarities among the other characters in example is these three:

Angry german kid Archetype: (Eren) Gabi

Weakling fight hard archetype: (Armin) Falco

Slender and dependable big brother (Jean) Colt

(Boy, Isayama really ship Eremin hard isn’t he? lol)

on the Kenny arc story, the archetype between three of them also resonates in some way... and I will ponder about them a little.

Armin and Uri 

Aside of physical appearance, both Uri and Armin posses gentle vibe, and both are brainy people. Uri is wise, Armin is knowledgable. And both are courageous in their own way. 

WHO ELSE SURVIVES KENNY’S KNIFE ATTACK?!

........................other than Levi?!

And WHO ELSE EAGERLY WIN THE WAR SO HARD, HE SACRIFICE HIMSELF FOR VICTORY??

........................other than Erwin?!

Anyway, both of them also wanted the best for the people. They may not share similar dreams, but  Uri wants to do something for the good for his people, Armin want the best future for humanity. Tho their dreams is kind of opposite, but both of them want the best for people.

Jean and Kenny

Rough guy, in appearance or in words,... with very similar face profile. Both of them have long face, long nose, slender body build. 

I know, both are very different people. Tho he is quite obnoxious, Jean is actually very nice and sweet guy. If you take Kenny’s words then put it to Jean’s bubble chat, I’m sure it will be OOC. Vice versa.

I mean look at this picture..

This happened shortly after Armin being molested by pervert old man. We can see that he still wearing the same clothes. Eren focus on himself, Mikasa focus on Eren, Historia focus on the general situation, Sasha and Connie laughed at him, ... ONLY JEAN CARES!! Only Jean shows empathy! This guy is the nicest among the gang.

Kenny is the total opposite of Jean, he is a murder.

But, in their role about relationship with Uri or Armin, both actually shares similar “path” (idk what word to use, not native English speaker and I learn english from youtube vlogs, video games, and movies, so pardon me!).

Uri and Kenny’s relationship was based on respect. As someone who had been through various countless short term relationships, I want to emphasize to you that any relationship... again... ANY relationship, should have respect as it’s foundation. Love may come and go, but without respect, it will end ugly. See how crucial a respect is? And this respect is able to be maintained so well that Kenny being loyal when guarding Uri for 2 decades at least. If this is not a true friendship, IDK what life you’re living in.

At the beginning, Jean and Armin were actually not noticing each others. Jean is busy looking at Mikasa, Armin is being outgoing and friendly to everyone (from what I read from character interview, I deducted that his best friend was actually Marco, aside of Eren and Mikasa). When the war against the titans begins, Jean and Armin had to work together as team, and this is how they noticed each other’s potential (it’s not in the anime but in the character interview, Armin did mentioned that he agree with Marco about Jean’s potential, but of course, Marco would say it nicer than Armin)

Not going to forget how Jean and Armin arguing about Erwin’s leadership on their first mission as scout legion. Jean is a difficult person to deal with, but he can listen to Armin’s different opinions. I think this shows that Jean was actually not trouble maker but more like, he is very logical person that it will took good reasoning to “tame” him. And that’s what Armin does. This little guy tame the wild side of Jean (Jean is wild, admit it. He’s just not as strong or as lucky as Eren), just like how Uri tame Kenny’s aggression.

We all noticed that Isayama loves paralellity (was that even a word?). Often we are shown two kids boy and girl, or a band of three kids consist of the boy, the girl, and the nerd watching the scout legion that reminds Eren about his younger self. Twice, as far as I can remember. 

End of words, it’s still fun to see the “alternative” side of JeArmin.

Recently I been busy with my webtoon, so I forgot about my favorite stuffs in a moment. But whenever I got tired of the works, I recharge my energy with browsing anything about Jearmin. I love some fanfictions, I also love some art works, let’s talk about that next time, because right now I am going to share some thoughts I got when I browsed wikia page of my favorite ship.

I have the urge to share it, because well, I think some of what contains there is a bit exaggerated and can be misleading. Misleading in the way that... when someone is not following AoT and they wondering about JeArmin, and they read the wikia page, I’m pretty sure that person will got the wrong way about how Jean and Armin interacted in manga or anime. 

I love Jean-Armin relationship because they both guys.

okay, here goes!

In the "sudden visitors" OVA Armin is in team with Jean and tries to help him beat Sasha in a cook off. When Armin breaks his leg he is unhappy that he can no longer be of use to Jean.

I had watched this OVA, it was fun, it was great. What I see from this scene is, Armin is a loyal friend, but he has his own moral code and standard. And he is the kind of person who is not supporting any act of cheating, that’s Armin’s integrity.

Yes, Armin did saying that he is unhappy that he cannot help Jean any further. But I had read somewhere, I kinda forget where did I watched or read it (it’s like AOT Junior High or small 4 panel comic about AOT), but it’s about Armin intentionally break his legs off to skip something he didn’t like. So, to me, this scene is about Armin leaving Jean in the most subtle and politest way. 

But duh! Breaking your own legs to leave someone? That’s kind of dark, Armin.

On their first scouting mission, Jean admits that Armin used to creep him out, but he has always believed in his abilities.

Yes! I love this scene, to me this scene shown Jean’s quality as a human. Jean was annoyed for Armin being “gay” to Eren, but it doesn’t blur his opinions. This shows how Jean can think logically and clearly. Sometimes when we judged someone bad, everything about them turned bad. Even when they do great things, we would see it as being malicious, Jean is far from that, and he kept believe in Armin more than any other comrades (I’m sure of it).

During the rematch between Eren and Annie, Jean and Armin are seen talking on the rooftop before working together to lead Annie into a trap. In the aftermath of the fight they have a couple scenes together, talking everything over.

That’s correct but... it’s not like they are kissing over there

Armin tries to protect Jean from a titan after he is knocked unconscious during the Scouts' operation to retrieve Eren. On their return back he and Jean are on horseback together.

Yesss!! I love this scene. When I saw this scene, I swore that I will stop following AOT if the author kill Jean. 

Armin is probably stronger than we think he is, how he managed to get Jean into horseback behind him remains mystery.

In the cabin, the two of them are shown together when Eren wakes up after remember Ymir and Bertholdt's conversation.

We just treasure every moment Armin and Jean are seeing together, aren’t we?

When Armin and Jean are disguised as Historia and Eren, Jean struggles to watch as one of their captors fondles Armin and makes him cry. Later when Levi instructs Armin to fix the man's gag, Jean does it for him to spare him any more distress.

My favorite scene. Yes, this scene shows them back to back. They got such adventures together. Mikasa was there, spying from the roof and she cares more if Armin’s disguised will be blown out, more than worrying about her childhood friend getting molested. Poor Armin

When Jean is about to be killed by one of Kenny's subordinates Armin shoots her to save his life, despite this going against his morals.

Love this scene also, especially in manga where Armin did looked like a boy with serious killing expression.

Jean and Armin are seen talking to each other and working together on Historia's orphan farm.

oh okay, another scene together... did something happened? Did someone said something sweet during the scene? Or kissing or holding hands perhaps? I haven’t watched this episode, just skip it right to the beast titan war.

Jean seems to place great faith in Armin as shown when he repeatedly turns to him for advice when their situation becomes dire during the Battle of Shiganshina.

In manga, this is heavily shown. But not very much in anime. What I like better about this scene is not about how Jean being dependent to Armin in vibes: “I need you, I am nobody, I can’t do anything, I need you!”, 

but instead, this vibes: “I trust you and your command. I know you need time to arrange things, and so I give you your break. Leave the rest to me, I got your back!” 

 I liked more when Jean took over the command when Armin is being turned down by the situation. Jean spares Armin some time to calmed himself down and helps Armin to avoid fatal mistake he almost made. This part showing how Jean and Armin is similar and can work together in leading and commanding. 

Because they both are guys.

When Bertholdt burns Armin, Jean cries at Armin's supposed death and is relieved and emotional at his revival.

no, he wasn’t crying. A drop of tear was seen, but not crying. Jean also did not cry on Marco’s funeral. Sad yes, but emotional no. Big NO. Jean is not easy to drip tears. I watched this and I read this too, anime and manga, Instead Eren is the one who cried, screamed, tantrums, and Mikasa is the most emotional upon Armin’s death (it was a very sad, desperate scream), and Connie was cried. They show more emotion than Jean.

Jean just being stunned as he watched how Armin got burned and like our regular father, nobody seems to know what’s on his mind.

But my best bet is, this is what Jean thinking about when he saw Armin’s burned body : 

1. He was stunned because he saw Armin as the savior of humanity, like Levi. A hope for humanity. He is counting on Armin. So when Armin is “dead”, but the war still going, it’s like an empty win. He basically just losing hope for humanity within the walls.

2. If anything about emotional, it’s probably guilt. Perhaps he thought that he forced Armin to think of something and it costs him his life. But judging how Jean is, I don’t think Jean would acting like it’s his responsibility. 

but I agree that Jean did feel relieved. Although I disagree about “emotional” because he was actually the least who shown emotion on Armin’s situation. (I’m not including Floch, he is on Erwin side, that’s why)

In Attack on Titan: Junior High!, Jean said, “Maybe I haven’t got a girlfriend because we’re always together.“ which means they always hang out and do that kind of stuff together

I know this scene might exist, but in which episode I can’t remember. But I have to rewatch this because I have to make sure what is the situation when he said that.

Okay that’s all my personal thoughts on Jearmin wikia page.

That was before attack on titan entered chapter about Erwin's revolt plan. The reactions? People in tumblr boo me and accusing me for being illogical, stupid, etc... I was so disappointed by the reaction, so i close my tumblr and create new one.

But after that, attack on titan story showing out what i criticized! So does this means that Isayama was stupid for having the same thoughts as I was?

From there on, i swear to myself, i will never back off regardless of the hatred from others who disagree with me.

I know how toxic internet can be, especially some social media. But i know what I'm doing and my intention is to ship my favorite ship with my brain, and clear thinking, not my ego. Because i know how tricky ego can manipulate us and our perceptions. I won't say that it's somethinf when it's not.

To all people who throwing hates on me upon my opinions, i won't hate you back. Because i know, only hurt people hurt people.

You know why people laugh at someone who slipped on a banana peel and fall to the floor? They laugh because they know the person will be okay.

I never laughed when someone got eaten by titans, i don't even dare to see anyone getting eaten, including Bertholdt. I'm bot what you think i am and i won't try to argue about what you think of me. You even can add more if you like.

in my past blog, I stated that I can’t decided why Jean look away, why Armin stares at Jean that way... I’m talking about this .. 

yes, the most hilarious scene in the whole series! Armin molested scene, especially when the pervert said “she is more muscular than I thought”, my laughter brusted even more. it’s like the combination of disgust and funny. I can’t explain the funny part, why is it funny when watching him getting molested like that? But I think if the guy doesn’t get tricked believing that Armin is girl it would not be as funny.

Anyways!

In the past post, I was stated that I can’t decided the situation, why Jean look away, why Armin glares to Jean (and why should it drawn in a big  panel with super close up). Thank you anime, now I get it.

From Jean’s perspective, it’s an uncomfortable situation for him to see his friend had to get touch like that. His face is super pale and I bet he stop breathing, it’s because he empathize Armin. He imagined if that happened to him. That’s very nice of Jean, because if I was him, being jerk myself, I would have hard time to hold my laughter. But Jean empathize. Perhaps Jean is actually nicer than me. Yeah, he’s actually nice guy.

From Armin’s perspective, it’s a very serious situation and disgusting moment because probably the guy have bad breath, maybe because Armin didn’t like that guy (I still see Armin as gay lol), or maybe because he was worried that the guy will find out that he’s not Krista. But his face is very emotional, digsust is strong on his face. So I think it’s because he didn’t like getting touch like that and bad breath can make it worse. But to follow Armin’s  gesture, I would say that he is very submissive. So feminine. If I was in his position and getting molested like that, I would go frigid like a tree and just worried if that guy find out I’m not Krista.

His glare to Jean, at first I think it’s like Casca to Guts when she got raped “Don’t look”. Because it’s a shame, nobody wants to be seen getting raped in front of someone they love. And usually this scene happened to couples in anime because it will gives stronger impact due to their bonds. But here, I think Armin’s glare is the same “don’t look” from Casca to Guts, though in different tone. In Casca, she cares about Guts’s  feeling seeing his loved one being raped, meanwhile in Armin, it’s more like... “don’t look, I’ll punch you on face!”

And Jean look away because it’s a mess. Because he empathize Armin, it’s not funny to him, and he did not enjoy it or make fun of it. He knows how Armin feels about that and it’s more like “Okay I look away, I didn’t see anything, let’s pretend nothing is happening. Whatever! God damn, I won’t do this anymore!”

This thoughts suddenly crossed my mind upon watching latest Isayama's interview about the character who is mostly like him.

He used to answered Armin if I'm not mistaken. But lately he claimed that he see a lot of himself in Eren... A part of him that he "reject". Yes, it's "shadow".

Let's put it this way.

I know that Armin is a boy. But i never see him as a boy. But at the same time, he wasn't a girl. I know he wasn't and never a girl. So what is Armin's gender to me? Being an intuitive person about psychology, sometimes it's difficult to me to explain but i will try my best and i hope I'm not being misleading.

Armin is the feminine side of the author.

Let me explain. We all who ever seriously write stories more than three titles will realized that we have our own character creation's stereotype. This is my base argument in this article: that each characters representing part of the author's reality. Whether it is part of his own psychology, or part of other people around the author's.

Feminine is about intuition, hunches, emotion, love, kindness, gentleness. Yes i know Armin has dream and fight for it, and he is the most logical person in the series... Now wait a minute. I want to argue on that claim that Armin is NOT the most logical person in the series. *cough*Erwin*cough*Jean*cough*Hange*cough*Reiner*cough*

Remember the scene in retaking Wall Maria when Berthold is rampage and Armin just got stuck, he don't know what to do? (it's the scene where he was going to "die" and eat Bertholdt). His idea is based on his observations and leads to hunches. Sometimes he can explain it, sometimes not (like how he know that someone is hidding inside the wall, and eventually exposed Reiner), that is one of Armin's intuition. It's a female quality. Btw, did you know that courage, sometimes is also feminine quality? The bravery to protect, as mother would protect her children even if it costs her life.

If Armin using his logic all the time, he wouldn't choose to enlist in Scouting Legion. He would just choose to be an MP to live a pleasure life, have kids, gets old and leave the world's problem to some idiots who would throw their life away for others. And if Armin uses his logic as dominant trait, he would be careful to not suggesting his comrades to return to Commander's spot to ask for next task because he would knew right away that it will sandwiched the entire scouting legions with Beast titan and Collosal titan as the bread.

But Eren himself also doesn't showing logic (masculine signature traits) in most of the stories. So why he is a masculine? Eren is very very aggressive. And that is his masculine quality that to be balanced with Mikasa. Mikasa, despite being one of the strongest (he almost kill Levi in a little wrestling fight, btw) she carries feminine quality which is to protect her loved ones. When Eren fights, he calculated his moves, his enemies moves and act accordingly, i see this as masculine traits. In contrary, Mikasa uses her intuition when she fights. We never being shown her thinking what to do next, she just acts intuitively.

So this is concluded to me that Armin-Jean is a pair of masculine and feminine, and Eren-Mikasa also a pair of masculine and feminine based on their shared categories (brain and brawl).

Of course the brain and brawl itself also a pair of human's functional system that often said to be a pair.

Therefore, it's logical that Jean (masculine brain) interested in Mikasa (feminine brawl), as Armin (feminine brain) close to Eren (masculine brawl).

Back to Jungian psychology...

I had mentioned above that Eren is representing the author's Shadow side. A part of him that he rejects, that he fear most, someting part of him that he sacrifice in order to be fit in with society... That's shadow.

Armin is probably his true self.

And Jean... Well maybe Jean is his ego.. But i like to think that that role now is being handled well by Floch (he suddenly appeared as Jean starting to get along with the main character gang). Perhaps Jean is a figure of his friend who maybe once bullied the author or whatever, that his part is "challenge". Jean always be Eren or Armin's challenge. But i wonder if it's intentional that Jean always sounds softer when he talk to Armin? So probably Jean is a representative of someone who is close to the author that their part is challenge the author to achieve their dreams. The challenger could be anyone, not necessarily bad person. Could be over critical parent, could be doubting friends... Anyone.

Well i hope anyone who read this doesn't take it seriously because it's 6:05 am and I'm still trying to get myself sleep.
