kris is involved in, as far as we know, something dangerous. something potentially fatal. noelle will harp on and on about how close kris and herself were, all the sweet things they did, all the horrible pranks they pulled, all the evidence of their existence in her house - all this, and now they're acquaintances at best? the catalyst wasn't a sudden hatred on kris' part, it was, in fact, adoration. kris knew they were getting into something beyond any of their comprehension, something risky, and they didn't want noelle to get hurt, because to kris, noelle's safety is priority no.1, and clearly noelle can't protect herself, so it's obviously up to kris

now i don't think this is a view kris developed on their own. you have to consider their upbringing: december, who would constantly tell kris off for their mean pranks and jokes, going so far as to beat them with a wiffle bat for daring to scare her sister, you don't think she told kris to stop pulling so many pranks and maybe look out for her sweet lil sis? and carol, who is currently a scorned mother on a crusade to bring back her eldest daughter, going so far as to potentially end the world, the woman who is so protective of those closest to her that she plates her kids arts and crafts in bronze and keeps all her valuables close to her person at all time, the woman who only has noelle left, and is currently working with kris - you don't think she told kris that noelle's safety is absolutely paramount, above all else, even if it costs their life?

even beyond that, rudy, the father who always does his best to protect his family, and currently can't do that, you don't think he pulled kris up on one of those toriel mandated visits, and told them hey, pleaee protect elly for me while i can't protect her? toriel, who knows her kid is a rambunctious scamp, and that noelle is a sweetheart, you don't think she told kris to keep an eye on sweet noelle, make sure nothing happens to her?
