Random Hiking Adventures

Went to a favorite old stomping ground today. The trails here are easy and short and are perfect for just getting out.

This trail is falsely rated as difficult on All Trails. This trail is easy. There are no notable inclines and one small section of rocks. It has beautiful views of Breakneck Pond through the majority of it. The trail consists of one small waterfall, many bridges: rocks, wooden planks and one fallen tree. It is fairly well marked, but the trail alternated from blue to blue/red blazes without reason. Red/blue trail is not on the map. We missed the Cat Rock, but weather depending I will be back here next week and hope to find it then.

Today goes down as “the day Ryan tried to kill me.”

We hiked Mount Major which should have been easy for us, but because of the ice and snow, it took us a bit longer than anticipated.

We hiked the blue trail up and the yellow trail down. The views are breathtaking and definitely made it worth it, but scaling the face of the mountain without spikes or crampons in icy and wet conditions maybe wasn’t the smartest decision.

I fell 3 times hard. Twice on the rocks right before you reach the summit and once on ice on the yellow trail. Fortunately I only came home with scrapes and bruises.

Today we were tangled up in blue, yellow and white. Since our entire group couldn’t join we decided to do some random trails and checked out Quarry Park in Rocky Hill.

The trails are mainly flat with a few small inclines. We made it a little more adventurous and found some mud but other than that there is nothing strenuous about these trails.

The graffiti on the old compressor house was probably the most interesting thing in the park.
