It’s so interesting to see how his character has progressed. He’s no longer consumed with the passion of revenge for Lisa; he appears tired and more collected than before. But the lingering effect of her death is that it solidified and intensified the idea of humans being undeserving and parasitic, and he sees extermination not so much as revenge now, but more of a necessity. It’s more of, in his own warped mind, a tribute and testament to Lisa rather than exacting equal suffering in her memory, so that the evil of humanity cannot destroy what good is left of the world, like Lisa.

I'm not sad he's dead, but I really like how this was written out. He holds fast to his (fanatical) beliefs right to the very end, trying to maintain this faith in God, because his malice has been characterized as insane religious zeal. And ultimately, he ends up dying when confronted with what he knows is his fault and has been desperately trying to pretend wasn't, all inside God's house.
