However, I would argue that if Nygma is confirmed a Heterosexual™ that could be discussed as queerbaiting. We have been shown Nygma with meaningful relationships with both men and women, so it is my personal argument he is a bisexual man. (besides his obvious chemistry with Ozzie, we have his obvious attraction to Jimbo, coded language, and various other hairpins dropped throughout the series) There has been more than enough evidence and groundwork lain down for them to make it canon, and I think they’re silence on Ed’s ? Sexuality is problematic.

Though I think Gotham’s over all treatment of queer characters has been sloppy and borderline offensive. There have been no heroic gays since season 1, and all wlw relationships are in the eye of a man and eventually, dissolved for unhealthy wlm relationships. Robin talks about how he’s hesitant to assign any sexuality to any character because in a way, they reinforce negative stereotypes we as the queer community has been trying to escape for years which I generally agree with . It’s an uncomfortable conversation, but it needs to be had.

In any case, whether or not Ed is Straight™, do not harass Cory!! He is a sweet, soft boy and he is kind and good, and he doesn’t control what the writers write. Don’t!!!
