You can have the most AMAZING person in love with you, and still overthink and still worry constantly. You can worry about them breaking up with you, you can worry about them cheating on you, you can worry about soooo many other things. Yet you can’t really do much to actually prevent those things. All you are able to do is focus on being the best partner you can be. I feel like a lot of people (including myself) focus so much on what could happen, that they lose sight of what they CAN do. Putting full trust in your partner is the most scariest yet also most rewarding thing you can do. Trusting them to make the best decisions, trusting them to not hurt you. Yes you can’t stop them from hurting you, but you have to recognize that your partner is with you for a reason. Not somebody else, you. If the person is really right for you, you’ll both find a way to make difficult situations work for the better. But relationships are never easy, and sometimes I get caught up in the culture of worrying about breaking up after an argument or one disagreement, but that’s not how relationships work at all. Relationships take time and trust and honesty. One argument or disagreement shouldn’t have you feeling scared they’re going to leave you. Half of relationships are arguing and apologizing and finding solutions together as a team, not as separate players. If you really love your partner and care for them, then you will also care for them when they make you mad or upset or disappointed or sad. That’s really what love is about.
