Hello friends! For those that aren't aware, in the US currently there's a slew of internet censorship bills (incl. KOSA and The Screen Act) that're currently being discussed and soon will be voted on in the House and Senate. If you saw anything about the outrage, backlash, and censorship caused in the United Kingdom as a result of the Online Safety Act--which the UK refuses to repeal despite mass disapproval--these bills will create the same effect here in the US. They would lead to the age-gating of important information, like resources for reproductive, LGBT+, and addiction support, and potentially mandate Government ID verification to use social media websites. We already know how bad companies are with our data, being expected to hand over your ID just to access Twitter or Instagram is a mass data leak waiting to happen.
I highly encourage folks to call their reps, email, and share info about it with others to let our politicians know we do not want this!
All of the bad internet bills. One website.
If you feel uncomfortable filling out your info on this site's auto-email form, you can also copy the message (or write your own in a notes app) then you can look up your representatives' personal websites here and send your emails individually through those instead AND find numbers to call!
