Hi, I'm Griffin Raynor! I'm an author and editor from the US, and this is my writing and book tumblr! My main blog is @thatwitchrevan!
I write fiction, poetry, and fanfiction. My prose is often in the speculative genres. Currently I'm working on a novel and several short stories, with some other novels in development.
I'm happy to be included in tag games, and I'm always open for asks! If you reblog ask games from me, please try to send one as well! I don't do tag lists very often but if there's a particular wip or something you want to receive tags for let me know!
I have a short story in a wonderful indie anthology called Dark Cheer from Improbable Press! The anthology is two volumes of stories about humans interacting with cryptids, where comfort and compassion meets the unknown. My story 'A Heavy Hug' is about a shadow monster that lives in a young person's bedroom and keeps them company through their grief.
I also have two poems published in Paddler Press - 'Change' and 'Name Redacted' - which you can read in Volume Six here!
Three of my microfics have been adapted as an episode in the Tales from the Radiator podcast! You can find them here, and check out the rest of the amazing stories there!
Finally, I have a poetry chapbook available on itch.io and ko-fi. 'Marching On' is a 6k+ collection of poetry and flash fiction about spring, cycles, recovery, and rebirth. She's a messy passion project and my first ever collection and I'm so proud of her <3
This tag contains all the writing I've posted to this blog, this is my general talking tag, and here is my kofi!
A little about me: I'm in my mid-twenties, currently out of school and working a day job. I am white, queer, trans, and disabled. I use he/she/they/it pronouns! Other than writing I like to play games, listen to music, and make jewelry.
A lot of my writing is deeply queer, with themes of disability, mental illness, and anti-capitalism. I also try to include diversity in all my stories and characters. I am a radical inclusionist and against gatekeeping and respectability politics. We love people and fuck shit up here.
My WIPs:
Painted Waves - a queer, polyamorous, low fantasy pirate adventure novel about Reyna, a painter's apprentice who runs away with Chiyako, a pirate captain. Waves is about found family and finding your own place in the world, or making one together.
Advent - a historical fiction novel about a fractured royal family, a murderous and power hungry king, and his angry and rebellious daughter. Grace is the crown princess who wants to see her father Henric destroyed. Advent is about revolution, family, cycles of violence, and forgiveness. It features queer characters and romance.
Revelry - a gothic fantasy short story about friend group drama and romance
Space is Cold (So Stay with Me) - a short scifi romance in space about clones, identity, and ex best friends
I Will Fill Your Dark House With Light - a fantasy romance short story about a cobbler's apprentice and the witch who lives in the enchanted forest
Hazel and the Healer - a horror fantasy short story about a witch who sold xer body to a death god for revenge and the sweet innocent healer who's trying to help xem
My Fanfiction:
I have loved fanfiction since I was a small child, and it always came hand in hand for me with writing my own stories. For me, both come from a place of loving stories and characters and wanting to explore all the corners of my imagination. I try to alternate between writing original fic and fanfiction to give my brain the variety and enrichment it needs!
Currently I mainly write Star Wars fanfic, especially for Knights of the Old Republic. I've also written some fanfiction for Kingdom Hearts, Steven Universe, and RWBY among other things. You can find me on ao3 here. I also post fic snippets and commentary semi-regularly to my main blog.

You can tell a lot about a person by entering their mind palace and encountering their greatest fears and darkest hopes in a labyrinth reflective of their subconscious thoughts.
i think it's funny when a character is almost exclusively referred to by their last name by other people and this carries over into their internal monologue when someone writes from their pov. not even on a first name basis with herself
ppl on ao3 should use the "this work was inspired by" option more. so many fics out there that put links to other fics in the a/n but theres a better option.....
important addition i forgot that not everyone might know. similar to how ao3 bookmarks work, you can also link to non-ao3 fanworks using this format. so, for instance, if theres some fanart on tumblr that inspired you to write the fic? you can link that fanart to your fic!

Sad little priestly or otherwise devout character who discovers their faith is a sham or something otherwise darker than expected, you will always be real to me!!!
He was as tall as he was tall, and his eyes were the color they were. To describe his hair one would say that he had some. His face had all the features you'd expect, and none of the ones you wouldn't. "There he is," people would often say of him, but only when he was there. And they were right.
if you are trans and writing horror why not submit ur stuff to @othersidespec they have an open call for their Portals horror anthology featuring trans writers!
i DO believe that a good writer can make mischaracterization work. oh there's a character who doesn't normally cry? figure it out!! disect the character. make the situation cryable for them. make that character cry ugly tears even if it goes against their very nature. YOU CAN MAKE IT WORK!!!
A great piece of advice I've seen is "Don't fixate about what the character would never do. Think about the circumstances that would drive them to do this, even if they wouldn't normally."

A character who was neglected and has to do everything themselves << A character who was neglected and has to do everything themselves but they were never taught how so they do everything badly
Im tired of not speaking my truth to stay uncouth. We simply must torture The Character in perverse and cruel ways for my enjoyment and pleasure. Guards begin
