What Daemon’s reaction when he meets each of his baby brothers? What’s his relationship with them like. I bet that immediately after they’re born he’s more concerned with his Mama and if she’s ok or not, but once Daeron or Myriah calm him down enough to hold the baby, what’s it like?
I know we like to talk about Daemon as an annoying younger brother, but really he’s just an older brother who never got the chance. Aegon is never really mentioned, but in canon his first son is named Aegon so I think Daemon does think about him. (Yes I know that there’s a lot of debate about why Aegon III was given his name and I’m sure that part of it was to spite the greens and Aegon II, but I’m also very much of the opinion that Daemon wanted to honor his baby brothers.) He was very young (4-5) when Aegon was born and died, and most of Aegon’s life was overshadowed by Alyssa’s declining health and then death, but Daemon still probably has a few memories of him. Does holding Aerys for the first time suddenly make him think of Alyssa giving him a newborn Aegon? Worse, does it make him think of Aegon’s death? Does he terrify his poor parents by becoming convinced that his new brother isn’t going to survive his first year?
On a happier note: since Baelor is already pretty responsible, does that mean Daemon gets to be the fun big brother? Aerys is probably more interested in books than shenanigans (they can still bond over Valyrian scrolls though!) but I bet Daemon could get little Rhaegel and especially Maekar into some hilarious situations.
As you said, and as we get a taste of in Sunshine, Daemon is definitely nervous every time his mama gives birth, both for her and the baby, which I'll bet Myriah finds both sweet and a little heartbreaking. (I can picture Daemon being her most diligent attendant, if a bit watery-eyed because what if this is the time something goes wrong?)
Daemon was even younger when Alyssa died. Since I have his birthdate in Resonant at the end of the year (81 AC in his original timeline) and Alyssa died in 84 AC, he likely wasn't even 3 years old yet. Aegon would have died around the time Daemon was nearing 4, so probably just old enough to remember his baby brother.
But given that those memories are so distant, I wonder if he looks at baby Aerys and sees Rhaegar? (I would probably give Aerys's lilac eyes, like Aerys II, just to be a little mean to Rhaegar, but his hair trends slightly more blond that typical Targaryen silver.) Like, does a part of him wonder if Baelor = Jon, Aerys = Rhaegar? It becomes obvious pretty quickly that they're not, of course.
Anyway, back to his actual brothers. I could see Daemon wanting to live up to Baelor's example, as far as being a good older brother, but still being that gremlin of chaos that he is. So yes, the brother you go to for shenanigans. He both has your back and may engage in said shenanigans. I doubt Aerys is getting up to all that much, but Daemon is probably his enabler as far as helping him get access to books he wants but isn't allowed, or helping him hunt down "heretical" Valyrian books in Dragonstone. When Aerys feels a lack of connection to the Faith of the Seven, Daemon is one of the few people who sympathizes and doesn't tell him that he just needs to believe.
Aerys, meanwhile, is a great listener (unlike Viserys), so I could see Daemon going to him when he needs to calm down/rant about the world, and Aerys helping him make sense of it. For Aerys, Daemon is the most interesting puzzle in the world, and his greatest ally. When he's struggling on the field, Daemon refuses to let him be bullied.
Rhaegel is the most helpless/vulnerable of the brothers, so Daemon is one of many protectors (I'm sure Baelor feels likewise). He probably reminds Daemon a bit of Gael? Rhaegel is the brother who tries to make everyone smile, and it's pretty easy to return the favor. I could see Daemon bringing him little trinkets from his adventures, and telling him stories. Whereas Aerys listens to Daemon's deepest, most haunting fears at times, a bit like a confessor, I think he talks around them to Rhaegel. (I could see him telling Rhaegel his happier memories, actually, from his previous life, whether those are about his childhood, Viserys+Rhaenyra, his gold cloaks, or his boys.)
Then there's Maekar. 😅 They're both stubborn and hot-headed, but whereas Baelor and Daemon both have charm, Maekar...does not. I could see Maekar and Daemon getting into the most vicious of fights on occasion, and also encouraging one another to despairing heights of recklessness. I feel like, where it's sort of natural for Maekar to butt heads with Baelor in the "youngest brother pushing back on the authoritative/responsible eldest brother," Daemon is the "fun" one, the enabler. He's fallible, so he's more relatable for Maekar. I do think it can be frustrating, however, to see Daemon get away with things (either due to being the "special" one with a dragon, or due to his much better charisma checks) that would land Maekar in hot water.
From Daemon's perspective, I don't know if there's an obvious analog in his past life for Maekar. Maaaybe a little Rhaenys, if I had to pick someone? But while Aerys and Rhaegel fall neatly into "helpless, must protect," Maekar doesn't want to be coddled/protected, he wants to be his brothers' equal. So perhaps Daemon places himself in a similar role he took with Rhaenyra, where he's the "experience-maker." He's the one who sneaks wine to share with Maekar, who sneaks with him through the secret passages into the city to take in the sights, etc. And whether Maekar goes along with it depends on how adventurous he's feeling, or how annoyed he is with Baelor (and how annoyed doing so would make Baelor).
