J'adore Raja

She’s absolutely stunning ❤️

Once upon a time, Raja did this series of videos where she (well, he, Sutan) paints his friends. This one is something special, kind of meditative, with this soft, ambient heartbeat music building toward something while Scarlett’s toddler makes toddler noises in the background.

What made me cry the first time I watched it was Sutan introducing Scarlett, talking about her many talents and qualities, and said “She’s a mother. The pinnacle of her career is to be a mother”.

Interacting with Raja the last few weeks has held a stark mirror up to my… averageness? I’m not mediocre, I’m just not cool. It’s hard for someone like me to talk to someone as unusual and special as Raja and not feel super lame. There’s no dressing up the fact that I’m a 35-year-old white mom. The thing is, I’m happy, I like my life and who I am. I’m a mother.
