Currently In Narvik

Julaften (Christmas eve) is here! Today I got to enjoy a variety of fun Norwegian christmas traditions such as: going on walks in the winter snow, watching norwegian christmas children shows, going to lots and lots of Christmas concerts, attending the school’s annual Christmas ball, opening gifts (yes they open gifts on Christmas eve), and most importantly spending time with friends and family! Thank you so much to my wonderful, amazing host family for making this Christmas the best one yet! Hope all of you at home in America are warm and comfortable and enjoying the holidays with your loved ones. God jul til alle sammen!

The holiday season is going by so fast! Had a fun time celebrating Halloween with pumpkin carving and costumes! Then enjoyed a traditional thanksgiving dinner with my host family and another exchange student (made some pretty good stuffing)! Now we're getting ready for Christmas: attending hockey games, decorating the house, singing Christmas songs, wearing ugly Christmas sweaters, and looking forward to the break! :)

First snow yesterday!

I got the amazing opportunity to visit Norway’s polar park with my media class today! I almost froze my toes off but it was so cool to see all the animals!!!

I am so bad at posting... But here are a couple things that have happened recently: we went to Lofoten (which was so beautiful), I went to the school dance party (which was super fun!!), I have been on a couple hikes with beautiful views, I have gone shopping, and I have met lots of nice people and made some good friends.

Apparently in norwegian high school, going on hikes is a totally normal thing?? This last Thursday everyone in my class just met at a trailhead and went on a beautiful hike together (our teacher is the man in the blue jacket with his arms crossed by the way). At the top there was a picnic table and grill and we all roasted hot dogs and ate snacks together! And the views !!!!! Wow. And one kid brought his dog !!! So 10/10 would recommend attending norwegian high school

Today's (sonday) adventures: checked out the library, had some siiiick waffle cake things with brown cheese inside, drove around the city and saw some beautiful views!, and went bowling with eline and her friends (don't ask me what their names are because I couldn't tell you)

Yesterday's adventures: softis!!! (Ice cream), met the extended family and friends who are all very fun and kind, had a cozy time in their hot tub (!!) P.S. if you're looking for a banging Norwegian jam, look up "bængshot" 😉

First night in Narvik! The scenery on the plane was so beautiful I almost started to cry haha... my family is so kind and thoughtful and they make a heckin good pizza!! Great start to my journey in Norway 🇳🇴

A very beautiful (but very expensive) lunch in Copenhagen...

Soon I go off to Norway!! Wish me luck 🇳🇴
