This is definitely a long shot but do you have any books about queer history in Poland? I'm trying to do research for an OC of mine but have no idea where to start since it's not easy to find.
Especially if it's about Lesbians and/or Non-binary people.
we do have a handful of titles in our collection:
Queer Kinship on the Edge? Families of choice in Poland by Johanna Mizielinska
Swimming in the Dark by Tomasz Jedrowski (fiction, set in 1980’s Poland - but it is two young men not lesbians or non-binary folks)
City of Laughter by Temim Fruchter (fiction, generational, beginning in 18th century Ropschitz, Poland)
but we do have a few more titles in our wishlist that may be helpful for you, although we haven’t been able to purchase these yet:
Trans-Historical: Gender Plurality Before the Modern eds. Greta LaFleur, Masha Raskolnikov, & Anna Klosowska this has a really broad geographic range, but does specifically call out Poland as one of the places included
OUT: LGBTQ Poland by Nabrdalik
Queer Transgressions in 20th Century Polish Fiction by Jack J. B. Hutchens
Queers in State Socialism: cruising 1970’s Poland eds. Tomasz Basiuk & Jędrzej Burszta
Good luck with your research! hope this helps a bit

hearing anything about the nolan odyssey is so funny. it's like "they cut the extremely important and infamous nobody scene" "the cyclops is a giant puppet that they put in an actual historical cave + gave circe animatronics for her pig transformation instead of cgi" "they dumped plastic skeletons in an environmentally protected location they were not supposed to be in" "they recreated ancient greek instruments in order to have an accurate score" "all of odysseus's agency is basically gone" "anne hathaway actually learned how to weave ancient looms" "the women in this movie are treated like shit" "they actually buried actors alive to get those underworld shots" "did you see what the fuck zendaya was fucking wearing holy shit you can't DO THAT, MA'AM" "what do you mean there was a legitimate epic the musical reference" "NOT A SINGLE FUCKING GREEK WAS CAST IN THIS MOVIE"
like did nolan have two guys standing at his side at all times whispering ideas in his ear and one told the truth and the other told lies and they didnt tell him which was which until they wrapped production cause

"i love being outside at night, it's so peaceful"
me, outside at night, the moment our headphones die
did anyone hear that
i think there's something out here
i'm scared. is anyone there?
WHAT THE FUCK WAS THAT
I would give anything to be able to see how the world looks through the eyes of a mantis shrimp. it's been a deeply felt desire of mine for a very long time now and I will not know satisfaction until it is somehow requited
You actually probably don't want that.
Mantis shrimp have the 12 to 16 cones compared to a human 3... But they also can't easily distinguish between colours. Humans get that rainbow blend, while mantis shrimp get 16 blocks. We can tell the difference between yellow and orange - mantis shrimp can't.
And also - ultraviolet vision is nothing special - most crusatations can see in ultraviolet, and that range impedes colour vision - almost everything is blue shifted.
Also their distance vision sucks.
So... To us, a mantis shrimp perspective is blurry, blue, and mildly pixilated... Great at motion detection, though.
