I think we should all talk about how Diana Taverner has worked her ass off all these years, how she managed to reach Second Desk despite being a woman in a heavily male-dominated field, how she masterfully outplayed everyone in Season 3 and was certain- as we all were- that she was finally going to get First Desk, and then not only did she not get the job but she had to answer to AN ABSOLUTE IDIOT OF A MAN.
I MEAN HONESTLY CLAUDE WHELAN GETTING FIRST DESK WAS BORDERLINE OFFENSIVE.
THE MAN HAS NO IDEA WHAT HE'S DOING, HE'S NEVER BEEN AN ACTIVE AGENT, HE HAS NO IDEA HOW TO RUN OPS, HE CAN'T EVEN GO TO COBRA MEETINGS BY HIMSELF, HE'S AN UTTER MORON.
AND DESPITE FUMBLING IN SEASON 4, HE REMAINED FIRST DESK FOR ANOTHER SEASON, EMBARRASSING HIMSELF YET AGAIN AND NEARLY SHUTTING SLOUGH HOUSE DOWN IN THE PROCESS.
He did serve one purpose though and for that I am grateful. He's pretty much served as Diana's redemption arc. Taverner has always been a complex and morally grey character but the bitch knows what's up. She's experienced, capable, intelligent, cunning and just bloody good at her job. And she actually gives a shit. Can't wait to see her in the hot seat next season.
