"Sorry, I got caught up in things," he muttered loud enough for her to hear. She muttered a 'it's fine', laying her head on his shoulder. "Want me to tell you a joke?"

"Y/N! How many times do I have to tell you not to break the glass cups and the AI?!" Her father, Schlatt yelled from across the kitchen. She flinched at his shout, and she knew it was directed at her. He had been shouting at her ever since this morning.
Well, he was not yelling and just scolding—the usual. Y/N didn't know how they had gotten into this predicament in the first place. Or even what had happened to her dad in the first place. One minute, she was reading about The Giving Tree, and the next thing she knew, everything went dark. Y/N turned around to look at him as tears pricked her eyes, and by childish instinct, she uttered three words that caused her to be sent into a forest.
Since then, she was only left in a forest filled with oak trees and multiple anthills. A slight breeze ruffled through her hair as she stood on shaky feet and began to walk forward. Her dad's harsh voice echoed throughout the forest as if he were right next to her as she walked.
The sky above her grew darker, threatening rain and soon enough, Y/N was forced to find shelter. But there wasn't any. There were just more woods everywhere she looked.
She sat down against one of the many large trees and rested her head against its trunk. She took in deep breaths of fresh air and tried not to overthink the fact that she was alone in the middle of the woods. It felt so cold for her, resulting in her shivering, shaking and trembling
For some reason, she always had a friend that called himself XD, which resulted in her calling him that. He always materialized when she was alone and comforted her but he seems a little late today.
She only realised the rain was cold because her skin carried the heat of her blood, and as she looked up, her eyes were continually seeking the rainbows given by the light. Maybe he's just having a bad day, Y/N thought, but another thought said he didn't care about her.
That he didn't love her as he used to that, she was unwanted. As the rain fell, Y/N couldn't help but think of home and her family. It made her sadder than she had already, so she let the tears roll down her face. But soon after, she realised she was bursting into tears.
"Oh my God, Y/N. You're weeping because of a little... Problem." She muttered to herself.
He appeared and he spoke out, "Hey there, Y/N." He hugged her, drawing hearts and stars on her back to comfort her. XD was finally here.
She sniffled into his chest as he whispered words of comfort. "What came about to you?" He questioned, inquisitive and enraged at the same time and he apparently already knew. He thought, how could someone do this to a kid, especially Y/N.
She gave answer, "n-nothing, really — father just scolded me again." Then, she proceeded with sobbing into his chest again, XD patting her back out of pity and care.
Then, he said the best things that could possibly come out of his mouth, "It's alright, Y/N. We're getting through this together." His grip tightened around her, pulling her close. And just before Y/N fell asleep, she swore she heard him whisper, "I'll make sure nothing happens to you, okay?" But she was so exhausted that she barely registered them. The last thing Y/N saw before falling asleep was a pair of green eyes watching over her with concern.
The sun shone brightly, making her squint. She opened her eyes slowly and immediately shut them when the sun blinded her. After a few seconds, she adjusted to the brightness and lifted herself onto her elbows. She rubbed her eyes, which were sore from crying the night before. Then, she saw XD walking towards her with a golden apple.
"How are you feeling, Y/N?" He asked, his mask hiding the smile on his face. She replied with a content smile, unmistakably saying 'yes' to his question. He smiled and handed her the apple which she took gratefully. As she began to eat her apple, he sat beside her on the grass and started talking about the past year with her while she gave attention to to everything he had to say.
In between every sentence that passed his lips, she listened intently, nodding in acknowledgement when necessary. It felt so comfortable being with XD, like there weren't any boundaries around them anymore. They both felt complete in each other's presence and there was no awkwardness in their conversations. She wished they could stay in their own bubble forever, where no one else mattered except themselves.
After what seemed like an eternity, he stopped speaking. For a moment, all that could be heard was the sound of the wind rustling in the leaves. Y/N blinked a couple of times to get rid of the remnants of sleep.
"Did you hear what I just told you?", he questioned, leaning towards her slightly. She nodded. "Why don't we go for a quick walk?" Y/N agreed and followed him silently until they reached a small pond. She sat down beside him, resting her head against the tree behind her. He glanced at her and noticed how she had fallen asleep again.
Oh, JSchlatt. You've made a terrible mistake hurting this poor child.
The next morning, Y/N was awake, waiting for her friend to come back. "What is taking him so long," she mumbled to herself. Then, she finally saw him materialize from the grass in front if her.
"Sorry, I got caught up in things," he muttered loud enough for her to hear. She muttered a 'it's fine', laying her head on his shoulder. "Want me to tell you a joke?"
"Yeah?" She said, curious and intrested at what joke he would say.
"Did you hear about the Italian chef who died? He pasta-way."
She thought, oh my god, that's such a bad joke! She couldn't help but hold back a chuckle, causing the face behind XD's mask to smile. "And — I've gotten a present for you."
He pulled out your father's head, letting go of her with one arm to do so. Her face contorted to a mix of fear and suprise, making an effort to let go and back away from XD. She suddenly cannot move away at all, having the feeling that he was forcefully holding her close to him.
"X-XD, what's going on with you?!"
"Nothing, Y/N." He hushed her, throwing the head away and patting her head, ruffling her hair out to alleviate her uncertainties. She could feel his breath against the side of her head and it sent quivers all up and down her spine. "It will go away once we get out of here... But remember, you have to believe in me." His warm hand slowly traveled towards the back of her neck and he pushed her head gently forward.
"You're safe with me now, no one's going to harm you, Y/N."
Her eyes were flickering everywhere, her breath coming to be ragged and shaky, making an effort to figure out what the hell just happened. "X-XD, what're you doing?" She exclaimed fearfully, pushing him away with all her strength. Even though he was stronger than her, he didn't coerce her to get close to him again.
"Y/N. Please don't try to run away. I only want what's best for you." She shivered, shuddered and backed away further. He continued, "No no, Y/N, it's fine, come to me."
She shook her head vigorously and backed herself up even further. Suddenly, he lunged himself at her with surprising speed. She screamed as she ran towards the bushes behind her with all of her strength. XD was on her tail, grabbing a hold of her shoulders and yanking her backwards.
But the second her back touched the bush, she jumped up onto it, and ran off again. She ran across the clearing and into the darkness of the forest. Once the shadows were all around her, Y/N finally stopped running and turned to look at her surroundings, scared to death of what might be in front of her. "Oh my God, oh my God, gosh, God help me," Y/N muttered, running and dashing with all her stamina to get through the forest. She was now searching for the way to Logstedshire. "Tommy, Tommy, Tommy! He should be able to help me!" Y/N exclaimed happily and heartily, now feeling like she had hope.
When she finally arrived at Logstedshire, her legs and body were sore and tired and as she reached her destination, she collapsed on the ground and leaned against a tree, sighing out loudly. Y/N then spotted a blond boy approaching her with a suprised expression.
Tommy spoke, "Y/N? I thought Schlatt adopted you." He sat down in front of her, giving her bread and she took it greedily, swallowing it greedily. "Are you alright? You look like you just faced God's wrath." He asked, chuckling at the last part.
"I think I just did," she responded, already finishing her bread. Then, she looked at him seriously and inquired, "Tommy, do you know anything about a guy named... XD?" Y/N questioned and asked anxiously.
Tommy raised a brow and answered and inquired of, "Uhm, who? Y/N, c'mon -- you really need a break." He helped her up, carrying her on his back and went to his house. "Oh and -- Ghostbur's here."
Wilbur appeared out of nowhere, waving at her merrily.
"Ahh, great..." she murmured.
Wilbur then turned serious and added, "I can see you have lost weight again because of the stress." His gaze eased upon seeing how pale and worn out Y/N was. "Don't stress yourself out."
"Yeah, Y/N, what happened? I thought you're with Schlatt after my -- y'know, exile."
"Yeah but, can I stay with you guys for a bit?"
"Sure, Y/N!" Wilbur said, affirming her question.
Then, the next day, Y/N was sitting outside, playing with the wooden dolls Tommy and Wilbur gave her. She hummed as if she was singing a song, the dialogues of the dolls or in her words, her characters in her mind. XD appeared out of nowhere.
"What the — GET AWAY FROM ME!"
"No no no, Y/N, settle down. I won't hurt you."
"Well what you did there was otherwise!"
She grabbed an iron axe that was next to her, standing up and holding up infront of her. In her state of fear and anxiety, her reflexes were very much impaired. After a few seconds, she managed to catch sight of XD behind her.
Is he really trying to scare me?! She thought, panicking in her thoughts. She quickly dashed towards him with the axe, aiming it at his head. Before she realized what had just happened, he grabbed hold of the weapon, keeping her off balance. She lost her balance and crashed onto him, her knees hitting the floor painfully. The impact caused the air to leave her lungs and she fell unconscious.
"Y/N, get up!" She heard Tommy yell at her, opening her eyes to see Wilbur fighting XD by himself. Wilbur won't win.
Y/N quickly got up, grabbed her axe and slashed at XD. "Y/N!" Wilbur exclaimed, dodging and evading XD's attacks. It was hard, trying to find an opportunity to make him stop attacking Y/N. He kept dodging her every time he tried to hit him with his own weapons. She swung her blade in anger, not caring whether she cut through the air. Suddenly, she felt an immense pain on her right leg, stopping her movements.
Tommy brought in a misstep when he turned away to check on her to see if she was okay. Tommy's weakness was taken advantage of by XD, who charged at him with the intention of paralyzing him. When he was violently thrown to the earth, he had no time to react. While his sword was thrown out of his reach, his back slammed hard into the ground. "Just give me Y/N, I don't want to hurt anyone unless it's necessary," XD started again, "I won't say please."
"We won't!" Tommy responded as if he was speaking for him and Wilbur. Wilbur, meanwhile was stood rooted to the ground. He smiled at Tommy with no emotion in his smile.
"And I can promise you'll hate yourself after this." He declared coolly. He raised aloft up his foot and kicked him right where it hurts. That one was particularly bad; he groaned loudly and cried out in agony.
Y/N watched, horrified, tears starting to form in her eyes. "X-XD, I-I'll come with you! Just — don't hurt my friends!"
"Y/N! Are you crazy?!" Tommy yelled, receiving another kick from XD. Wilbur seemed to make an effort to consider an alternative and Y/N gave him a look that told him to stop. The blond boy appeared to see this, giving Y/N a pleading look.
XD spoke, "It's nice to hear that, Y/N." He smiled at her with pure compassion which provoked her to flinch.
"Let's go, Y/N. Let's go home now. Don't you ever worry about them."
Y/N, for some reason, ran away from them as if she wanted to keep him preoccupied. He came after, going away from Wilbur and Tommy. "What is Y/N thinking...?" Tommy muttered and Wilbur shook his head not knowing from a distance.
You can do this, Y/N! Y/N thought, running and speeding up whenever her stamina was enough to do so. "Y/N, why can't you just stay with me? Can't you see I ¿noʎ ʇnoqɐ ǝɹɐɔ" She heard this in her head, feeling like he was gaining on her.
He appeared right in front of her eyes, causing her to stop in her tracks. Suddenly he picked her up bridal style in his arms and took off, with Y/N still struggling and screaming. As they were both going through the forest, she began yelling at him, "Put me down you fucking asshole! Put me down, you bastard! Let me go you bastard! You bastard!!! You bloody bastard!!!"
"You've been learning some swears from your 'friends', have you?" He spoke up, a mocking tone in the word 'friends'.
"Who cares what that I learnt from them! Leave me alone! Put me down you son of a bitch!" Y/N replied back, struggling in his arms even more as she could tell her strength was getting weaker by each second.
"Oh really? So now you wanna fight back?" He looked at her with a cool expression, causing her to shiver.
"Don't worry, Y/N. You'll be safe with me, forever. Now you have to accep it now, do you?"
"X-XD! What's going on with you?"
"No, what's wrong with YOU."
"Nothing!" She made an effort to get out from his grasp as she said that, his grip only getting tighter. He patted her head with the wings that were on his head, which caused her to suddenly feel comfortable in his arms.
She drifted to sleep in his arms. She didn't want to, but she felt the need to. And so, she closed her eyes tightly, falling asleep with his wings wrapped around her.
When Y/N woke up again, she found herself laying down on some soft cotton sheets. It didn't take her long to realize something was different about her. She couldn't move. There wasn't any sort of restriction or restraint on her body whatsoever. She opened her eyes to discover she was lying on someone's chest. Her heart immediately jumped to her throat as she stared blankly at the person holding her.
"Y/N! You're awake!" XD exclaimed happily, hugging Y/N as he gently held onto her head. "You're with me and I'm so happy about that," he went on with, "are you feeling alright?" She cringed at his sudden tenderness and affection, attempting to move away from this position but he held her close. "Why aren't you answering me?!" He shouted as he pulled away from her.
She blinked repeatedly. How can she answer such a simple question while staring at a person she was afraid of? She asked back, "XD, this is a dream, right?" He looked at her for a moment, his mask slightly lifted which revealed his lips and they curled into a smile, then hysterical laughter broke out from them.
"Y/N! You're such a great humorist!" He said as to answer to the question. "But yes, this isn't a dream!"
"Then why are you hugging me, you monster?! Is this some kind of torture?!?" She yelled with her voice sounding weak, scared and confused all at the same time.
"No, this isn't torture. This is something far better than that."
"How much worse can anything be?!"
"I do not want to repeat myself. Now now, calm down! Your new home is with me!"
A horrified look appeared on her face as her mind was clouded with only one wish.
Whatever god is up there, help me.
