In the ruins of a place once known as Earth-413 lies the United States of America, a shining capital surrounded by twelve outlying districts. Seventeen-year-old Steve Rogers regards it as a death sentence when he is reaped for the 107th Hunger Games, alongside his best friend. He has no plans to survive, but Steve has been close to death before, and survival for him is second nature. Without really meaning to, he becomes a contender in the Games. But if he is to win, Steve will have to start making choices that weigh survival against humanity and life against love.
