Slugcats have unbelievable immune systems. Being able to just swim around all the different regions waters in unfamiliar germs without getting sick. And being in the iterators which are likely absolutely filled with spores and microbes.
Don’t even get me started on garbage wastes.
This is probably one of the reasons they were preferred as messengers by iterators!
Wormgrass is considered mostly a nuisance at best to most animals since unlike sluggo. No other creature is usually on an important enough journey to have to travel through red grass, and black wormgrass can be easily walked through. Mostly dangerous only to the young or weak. Or if you fall into a pit of it.
I can imagine wormgrass being like quicksand in pulp fiction. Prevalent in slugcat movies, almost unheard of in most slugcats' actual lives
The iterator cities remind me of Vancouver, BC. I grew up not far from the downtown area and the iterator cities just remind me of it for some reason
Interesting! The buildings have similar repeating patterns.
Slugcats don’t actually store items in their stomach (since you can store live creatures) but have something similar to a craw like how we see on irl birds
I think this is a cool theory! Speculative biology is fun.

Slugcats have shockingly strong grip. Apparently enough to crush bugs like noots and bats that are nearly the same size of them to death in an instant. And keep an unbreaking grip on struggling mice who ARE the same size as them.
Slugcats killing batflies in their grip is an intriguing bit of immersion. Like unintentionally crushing something delicate
Since the lineage system is a form of karmic retribution. It applies to any other creature the same way as you.
The scavenger that kept spawncamping me on my survivor run is going to get artificer
Arena mode is where the souls of creatures waiting to reincarnate are sent :monkdevious:
ooo yesss
I always figured they were iterator simulations, based on the presence of overseers. But I think this is a cooler theory
“Red Slugcats” exist and are the faster more agile and aggressive sub species of slugcat, always strictly carnivorous in diet.
Unlike red lizards/centipedes they descend from a primarily neutral creature however so still huggable critters. Although they are significantly easier to anger and are less patient generally.
(This headcanon was a result of me trying to connect the player and the slugcat as a creature more without making slugcats just the most unpredictable mofos lmao, so I came up with this for players like Wylde and Opsiian with significantly more aggressive playstyles/always play carnivores)
Legend has it that red slugcats evolved from scorerunners.
There’s blood in the superstructure and I have no explanation even for myself
It just sounds cool and creepy..
“Oh my god! There’s blood on the floor! Did anyone die here?!”
“Nah, just a few small batteries exploded again”
“W h a t”
Bioengineering, in quite a literal sense.

spearmaster doesn't eat in a traditional way, so i doubt they have a traditional excretory system either. the nutrients siphoned fuels their body and any excess/waste is calcified and made into spears (or something like that, idk much chemistry or biology)
maybe the spears secrete some sort of venom or enzyme that melts flesh/bones as well
All nutrition goes straight to making the tail bigger.
Slugcats have no sense of personal space, partly due to almost always being in family units if they’re in any social setting. Cuddle creachurs
just a bit cuddly
I'd imagine this is why multiplayer scugs are always jumping and surfing on each other.
Scavengers can communicate both through their variety of gestures and with vocal sounds, oftentimes gestures exist for more urgent situations where making noise wouldn't be a good idea.
Vocal communication is mostly primal in nature and for getting across any important information, maybe even something similar to irl crows where they can identify and communicate the individual features of another creature, or imitations of other sounds to communicate meaning like:
predator/predatory: swishing in imitation of a vultures jets, or a deep chitter in imitation of a green lizard.
maybe colors too, to convey the features of an individual creature as I said before, and for lizards and centipedes to know if their dealing with a red.
Anyways imma stop here before this goes of the rails and I write a whole essay lol
I like this! It makes a lot of sense.
I've seen it floating about a few times before but I love the headcannon that pebbles in particular is very small and. Built different.
If he was already very disliked by some people as a concept maybe the ancients designed him to be a smaller puppet with child like features as a way to make him appealing to people. After all you wouldn't hate a cute looking thing right?
But for pebbles it backfires and he gets taunted for it by other iterators of course
pebbles is bb8 to lttm's r2d2. Perhaps in different circumstances he would have been lauded
Adding to that one person who said ancients definitely fell in love with iterators, I've always been interested in how "common" ancients perceive iterators and interact with them.
I absolutely would imagine there to be several measures to prevent unsavory interactions with some "iterator obsessed" individuals, and I'd imagine it to have happened to a few unfortunate iterators.
The glass dividing wall of solitude

iterator puppets arent moved in an organic fashion, instead they often hang semi-limply from their arms and they dont control their limbs unless they feel like it
not moon though since her collapse gave her time to move more organically and less like a doll
A few past headcanons have proposed that iterator puppets are like hands, and that their limbs are like fingers.
I like it!
