August has arrived and live gets hectic. I will be on a break from posting chapters for at least three months. I have a lot going on with preparing for another year of homeschooling multiple children at different grades, plus their extra curriculars. Costume making season has arrived so I have custom costumes to make the children.

I have also decided to do a deep clean of my house which includes purging items we have aged out of over time.

Finally I was able to get a new chapter written for GWTK. It took a lot of procrastination to get it done. Though I did write plenty of other chapters for other stories.

Months ago I purchased a London travel guide from 1872. It was produced by the Langham hotel.

In my story Gone With the Kid, Rhett goes to London. This is considered Victorian London even in 1871. But when you google "Victorian London" the search results are Charles Dicken's London, Jane Austin (Regency period), or early 1900s right before the Edwardian Period. It is difficult to find what I want for the 1870s.

Well, in my story I wanted to know how long it took to get from Liverpool to London since ships docked in Liverpool. I did a lot of researching on google and archive.org without a lot of luck. Then i stumbled upon some forum from yesteryear. I was stoked to have found something that had my answer.

The last comment on the forum stated it took 14 hours to get from Liverpool to London by steam train and reasoned that the train had to stop every 12 miles to refill the water. To me it sounded possible, but seemed like an awful long time for 200 miles. But it was an hour train ride from Atlanta to Jonesboro which was only 20 miles away.

Last night I was reading through the travel guide because the next chapter of GWTK is Rhett's POV and I needed to information on places in London that he might venture to. To my surprise they listed travel times by train to different places around the kingdom and Liverpool was one of them!

The travel guide stated it only took five and a half hours to travel by train between Liverpool and London! I had the information in my hands for months!

New chapter for A Sheriff's Sale! It took a bit for me to write this chapter since I was not sure how to handle the conversation. I knew what I wanted to cover, but it was getting the words out.

I stumbled upon a very interesting page on Facebook called Dictionary Diva. She brings to light words that have become obsolete and thinks we should bring them back. Well, I agree. So if there is a word that fits into one of my stories/chapters, I will use it!

Here is chapter 2 of A Father's Intervention. There is some character development in this chapter.

On July 3rd a stray cat came into my yard. I thought left. When I went to fill the bird feeders, the cat was still in my yard, and approached me. The cat was really thin, and wanted pets. It was also really hot out, nearly 100 degrees fahrenheit. I posted on my neighborhood group asking if anyone was missing a cat, sadly no one claimed him.

Stupid me, I knew better, but felt sad for the cat, I gave it a can of food to give it some hydration. The cat stayed. He even stayed after two nights of loud fireworks.

My eldest child was petting the cat for a good 10 minutes, like the cat flopped down, kneaded the grass, and was enjoying the attention. Then the cat had enough and nipped my child which drew blood. They were not puncture wounds, but like a scratch. I cleaned the bite, applied topical ointment, and all was fine.

I put the cat in my garage for the night to take to the vet the next day. The cat had no microchip. The cat was healthy except for hookworm and being underweight. He got his vaccines.

Now I am trying to find a rescue or shelter to take the cat to. Many rescues want me to foster. I am not mentally able to do so with having my own cats, kids, and daily stuff to take care of.

The shelters I've called are appointment only for intake interviews, so it is not a guarantee they will take the cat. And the next available appointment would be in mid-August.

New story posted! I know, I know I should work on the other 3 WIP stories instead of starting a new story. Oh well, sometimes inspiration hits and has to be written and posted.

First tropical storm of the season was uneventful. Well at least it was for me. People living closer to the Gulf might have other opinions. I've had rains for days, so the ground is saturated. The winds were minimal. A normal cold front produces more wind.

While I wanted to get writing done, I could not due to children and their activities that were not canceled.

After the storm passed, I went to check on the caterpillars. Pictured are three Eastern Black Swallowtail Caterpillars. The third is really tiny.

I know, I know, I should be writing for the 3 WIP that are posted. Well, I don't want to! I do, but I am out of steam on them.

I am also trying something new, writing a story completely before posting it. My secret project is in progress, I am excited about it. I hope to have it out be the end of this year or the first half of next year. But I want the story to be completed before posting. Well completed in the sense that I read through the chapters and make edits before posting.

I have one of my most trusted friends to help me bounce ideas off of, and to give me a lot of encouragement.

This secret project of mine has some elements that I am not used to writing, which is why I am in the flow of writing for this project.

What do I do when I am not educating children or writing? Well, I have a lot of hobbies depending on the season and my mood.

Currently I am working on my pollinator garden. I've raised monarch catapillars for the last few years. This year I've not had success with caterpillars, but that is nature. The wasps, toads, and lizards have been eating them.

My garden started as a way to relax my nerves. I focus on native plants to my location. Natives are better suited for the heat and dought conditions.

I also feed birds in my backyard. I am trying to see how many species I can attract to my yard, I think the count is around 15.

I only write for Gone With the Wind fanfiction. I have tried to write for another fandom, but did not like it. Currently it is the only fandom I am reading in too with published books.

Well, GWTW is a dying fandom. There way back in the early 2000s there were regular posts and new writers. Readership was decent too. Over the decades writers and readers have moved on. Now most of the original writers do not write, or seldom do. I get it, real life gets in the way of hobbies.

I read reviews of the other stories in the fandom to try and gage if I want to read it or not. If I do read it, I will review.

On a story that is not mine there was a review that stated "There has been very little of quality to read without your stories." I do think I am reading into it too much, but it is hard not to when I've updated 2 of my stories multiple times in the last few months. So I wonder if my stories are considered lacking quality or not. None of my reviewers makes statements like that.

As a kid, I was diagnosed with a form of dyslexia. I struggled to read and spell. Writing helped me a lot with my spelling. I have always been self conscious of my writing, worried if I had everything spelled correctly, or if I used commas in the right place or too many. Did I mix up past and present tenses.

So, yeah, when I read about the lack of quality of stories it makes me wonder and puts me in a slump.
