I've realized that posting my screenshots in a story format, where I edit the pictures and choose an order to post them in and then write dialogue and descriptions for them, is not as much fun as I thought it might be!!

The amount of time and work it takes to make these posts is just not compatible with my current lifestyle. I wish I got into this community as a teenager, because I would have been absolutely so much better at this kind of storytelling than I am now.

But that's okay! I tried it, and it wasn't for me! HOWEVER, I do still really want to post my screenshots and share my sims. I'm going to keep this blog as is and start posting just my favorite screenies from my current save file, which has been my favorite I've ever played in!!

I started playing the Whimsy Story Legacy Expanded challenge in 2022 and it has completely changed the way I play The Sims. I started the challenge with the goal of NOT taking that many screenshots, because I used to take sO so many screenies and then not do anything with them! PLUS sometimes taking screenshots breaks immersion and makes the game less enjoyable. I did a pretty good job sticking to that promise... until I started getting attached to my sims. And then with Generation 9 I had the idea to finally start posting my story. I used to fly through the generations with just a couple months of gameplay, but I've been stuck on Generation 9 for nearly TWO YEARS!!! All because I got swept up in capturing my gameplay.

So I'm done with that. I'm going to go back to playing the game with just me as the audience, and I'm gonna share my favorite moments on this blog so that in the future I can look back at my favorite sims and reminisce.

Stay following if you would like, but just know that only I will fully understand the satisfying end to Ivy's story.

I'm going to start my blog fresh by posting some of the screenshots I've saved of the very first generation of my Whimsy family. I took waaaaay less back then, but I still feel compelled to share.

The sun began to set and Sir Smiley insisted that they move the conversation inside. He had a lot to explain.

Smiley: Here's the long and short of it. I moved here around 50 years ago to aid in the management of a growing vampire population. Thankfully, the population has dwindled in the past decade to the point where only a few blood-suckers still reside in Forgotten Hollow and even less filter in and out for visits.

Ivy: Did you... kill them?

Smiley: Oh no, not at all. I mainly used... intimidation tactics to keep the hoards of vampires away. Not all vampires are bad folk. I get along well enough with Vincent and Itzel, even though they both lack a solid backbone. I don't entirely trust them but I would only harm them if they did something to harm me, or you, or any other innocent sim.

Sir Smiley got very serious all of a sudden.

Ivy: I'm so excited! You really didn't have to do all this. A handwritten apology note would have sufficed—

As Ivy opened the box, a foul stench wafted into her nose.

Before Ivy has the chance to tell him off for being so rude to her the other day, Sir Smiley apologizes.

Smiley: I'm here to apologize to you, young lady. I didn't mean to make you feel unwelcome or unequipped to deal with our... community. And to show you that, I've brought you a gift.

Ivy's paranoia finally clues her in to the fact that she's being watched. When she spins around to catch the perpetrator, she can't help but gasp.

Ivy: Sir Smiley...!?

Ivy arrives home from work the next day still feeling pretty upset about her father's passing.

me when I realize that it has been 9 months since I last posted. which actually isn't that shocking when I remember it has also been 9 months since I started my job.

Sir Smiley: Mm! This cupcake is simply divine! I wonder how the young lady who baked it is doing tonight.

At the window, Sir Smiley can see Ivy crying on her front porch.

Sir Smiley: Oh dear. That won't do. Can't have a sad and vulnerable girl in a vampire's nest. I'll have to do something about that...

Ivy walked herself home only to see that her bowl of candy was completely untouched by Trick or Treaters. It seemed like no sane person was willing to step foot in this neighborhood unless they had to, not even on Spooky Day.

Despite her blossoming pity-friendship that was forming with Vincent, Ivy felt more alone than ever.

Vincent: I understand your pain. I lost my father nearly a century ago and we weren’t on good terms when he died. Well, actually, that was mostly due to the fact that I killed him—

Ivy: You WHAT!? 

Vincent: Nevertheless, losing your father is truly difficult. I'm sorry. If you would like to talk about it with me you can come over anytime after dark, alright? I should get home to my sister now. 

Ivy: Oh…okay…!
