i know i said i did not want to talk about the nolan odyssey but i do have one more nodyssey post in me. i actually think the idea of odysseus understanding his story as existing both in and out of a historic timeframe is a fun way to handle the liminality caused by the story being part of an extensive oral tradition. however having him say "our age of bronze is collapsing" is perhaps not the way i would have done that

never heard of this guy before but his Wikipedia article contains one of the most elegant insults I've ever read: 'Hall was, from his student days to his death, interested in philosophy, psychology, education and religion in every one of their aspects which did not involve detailed experimentation, intricate quantitative treatment of results, or rigor and subtlety of analysis.'

if you tell someone to kill themselves on tumblr and then get banned for it, I'm sorry to say but you are a scrub. what you do is you bait the other person until they tell you to kill yourself and then you report them so they get banned. i learned this when i was 12 on gaia online. i don't think they're teaching kids these days defensive trolling.

then if they remake and come back at you angry for getting them banned you ask them what they said that got them the ban, and when they say it to elaborate you immediately report them again for saying it again. write this down.
