I was watching the scene with Yuri and Estelle, the night before the adephagos, and when estelle said “I’d be able to travel with everyone. With you.” –we all know that they looked into each others’ eyes for a long time right?
And then Estelle dipped her head, closed her eyes as if she were embarrassed.
Then came Yuri’s “I feel the same way.”
I mean, how could that not imply anythinggg????

It’s no longer May but I really wanted to scribble something for Mermay this year…… ;w; It ended up being half a painting just because HAHAHAHsieoajsoea anyway have some yustelle!
I tried not to come up with too much backstory for this but I’m Me so:
- Estelle is a princess. Her design is based on a pink full moon betta fish (geddit???) - Yuri is human, not a prince - Flynn is the prince, and Estelle saved him from drowning once. He thanked her personally and asked if there was anything he could do for her, and Estelle requested for books from the human world - Due to Princely Duties, Flynn ended up being too busy to go, so he sent his friend (servant? sparring partner??) to bring her books - Yuri began to make regular trips down to the beach because he finds he kind of likes seeing how happy and excited Estelle gets over books, of all things. - Also he thinks it’s fascinating to hear about the underwater world, and to tell her about what goes on on land. - There’s no angst here this is just a fun mermay AU ok

anyway late night post; I just keep thinking about how often Lloyd and Colette are so quick to be affectionate with one another. As in, the very physical act of touching and reaching out. It’s a bit more so on Lloyd’s side, as he reaches for Colette’s hand with no pause when he sees she’s hurt, or rushing to catch her. Or even in the coffee scene when he reaches to hug her, also out of affection and offering what little he can in her situation. Colette just easily takes his hand to write in without even a thought, and he follows along. And there’s this other small act from Colette in the tower, gently grasping hold of Lloyd’s hands when she realizes he can still hear her voice. It’s so intimate and private, even as they’re standing in front of everyone else in what is very much a moment just meant for them only.
Some of this gets lost when you reach Tethe’alla, because of plot and the abundance of new characters taking place. Their Flanoir scene is very interesting in that they don’t touch, not exactly, except when Colette hands Lloyd the snow bunny. And something about how we’re allowed to see that out of other soulmate items just hits more powerfully, and how we can imagine that small trinket being enough to block an arrow that Lloyd had naturally placed over his chest. It’s an intimate thing, once again.
Yes this is the couple that holds hands and its cute, but it’s just so much more than that, in the way its presented, in how they both just get lost into each other as they do so. I just love how that affection on both sides is nearly always returned, always wanted, the one exception when Colette is so distraught over her crystallization, but Lloyd still goes to her and holds her. They are always seeking each other out.

Thinking about how Lloyd pleads with Colette to not sacrifice herself was by appealing to her how it would be like sacrificing her loved ones if she goes through it. And it's harsh and hurtful but also shows how incredibly desperate Lloyd is to stop Colette from making what he fears is an irreversible decision, so he's digging at what he feels is the most impactful to convince her. The other detail in it is how he divides those loved ones into three separate categories; Colette's friends, her family, and Lloyd himself. In his desperation, he is revealing more of how he sees himself in relation to Colette. Different than a friend like Genis, different than her family members like Frank or Phaidra, and not seeing himself as any other family member to her. Lloyd is something else, or MORE, finalizing that with using himself as that last category to show Colette. Hoping that significant difference will be enough to keep Colette here. Using the unique relationship they have with each other as a last ditch effort. He lays it out for everyone to see. The way he shows his feelings for Colette are clumsy but they're genuine and coming from both a place of love and hurt.
