The 1st annual RAD Fest will take place Saturday, August 25th... ***************************************˙∆˚˚˙˙˙ Rad Fest is an extension of other great events in the Arts District like the Studio Strolls, and Second Saturdays. It is primarily a means to showcase great local art-music and enhance the community of local artists and residents by creating another inviting event that will inspire new and more of the same folks to embrace the R.A.D. Rad Fest will feature 10 musical performances by local and regional artists, a daytime event at The Phil Mechanic Studio followed by nighttime performances by the headlining acts at The Grey Eagle. A portion of proceeds from Rad Fest will be donated to Asheville Greenworks to aid further improvements and development in the River Arts District. Event Details: *Rad Fest will be a dual-venue event on Saturday August 25th. ****************************************************** More info on RAD Fest: Rad Fest is designed to be an annual art-music festival in the R.A.D. that will feature some of Asheville's most beloved artists, and naturally will highlight proponents of Asheville's vast and impressive ambient/drone scene. Also performing are artists that frequently visit Asheville, or that are appropriate for inclusion in the family of artists this event intends to organize, or solidify. In short, Rad Fest will feature the truly radical of Asheville, radical in the best sense of the word, and not necessarily a philosophical reference (naturally). The artists that are right for Rad Fest are great artists that may frequently be overlooked, or completely unrecognized by most residents of the area. We want to help give them a day to shine, and in general a great event to look forward to every year near the end of Summer in beautiful Asheville. Rad Fest is ideally a means to organize the music and art community of Asheville. By providing musicians and attendees with ample opportunity to enjoy music, meet and network with like-minded musicians and music/art lovers we hope to create a friendly, family-like festival experience. This is also another great opportunity to increase exposure for the R.A.D and all things that go on there, an effort to raise interest for the arts district and in general Asheville art. We think this will only benefit the R.A.D. and the nearby businesses by adding texture to the style of events that occur there and by giving residents and travelers another reason to make the R.A.D. their destination, helping them to gain a sense of ownership and pride for the area if they are lacking.
