Mamamoo’s first full album, let’s go!!! The physical album looks great, and I pulled a dope Solar photocard. Whew, time to review this album with TIPS.

Title Track, Innovation within the concept, Photobook from the physical album, and Songs and bsides!!

Title Track: You’re a best is a jazzy song that’s a blast to listen to. The girls own it from start to finish and its just a blast!! 8/10. 

Innovation: A lot of times girl groups either do girl crush or a cute concept, and while those are fun, they can get a bit tiring when that’s all you see. You’re the Best has a playful jazz concept that was a breath of fresh air when I first saw it. Not incredibly creative, but Mamamoo wasn’t going for that. 8/10

Photobook: The overall styling of this album is pretty nice. The jean and bureé look on that girls is great, but the photobook, is so...whitewashed. I’m not going to pretend this isn’t a huge problem in kpop, but it just hurt me to see Hwasa whitewashed so hard. 

Let’s compare some pics, first one is Hwasa in Gogobebe with her natural tone looking gorgeous, and the second one is...yikes. What even is this?!? The members of Mamamoo always look great, but can we look great without furthering colorism please?

Overall, the styling in this album is lovely. The whitewashing is not. 6/10

Songs: Oh my the songs are great in this one. 1cm is a huge meme, I Miss You has amazing vocals, Friday Night has soft jazz fun, and Just is a gorgeous song. Most songs on this album are an 8.5/10, excluding I Miss You, Funky Boy, and Friday Night which are 9/10. Just is also my favorite Mamamoo song of all time. Gotta give this album 10/10

WWhew my RBB album came today! Ah it looks great, and I even pulled a Seulgi photocard. Yesss my bias wrecker, ah she looks great and her signature with the bear is precious!! 

Not going to lie, when I first heard “Really Bad Boy”, I thought I was in for a Bad Boy sequel but worse. Boy was I wrong, Really Bad Boy is an almost jazzy song. Honestly, its a pretty solid bop with a fresh concept. I don’t know why this era is so underrated, it’s a fun one. 

Anyway, time to review this album! I’m going to rate this album with TIPS, that is to say my in four categories and give it a grade (rating system will be below): 

-Title track: focuses on the concept and music video

-Innovation: focuses on the creativity of the album

-Photobook: includes the styling of the album and rates the pictures within its photobook. 

-Songs: focuses both on the overall song quality of the album and includes the title track and bsides. 

On to the review!!!

Title track: Fun song, fresh concept. I really enjoyed the Halloween concept on this one, hehe The Shining reference with Irene was great. Also, I think this was the era where Yeri got her confidence back. The amount of hate she gets is ridicoulus, but she glows in this comeback and I’m here for it. 7/10

Innovation: As I said before, Red Velvet went from a completely different sound than Bad Boy, and I really appreciated that. This was a really fun comeback, and something that definitely feels Red Velvet. 7.5/10.

Photobook:  I really enjoyed the photobook. Just look that the pictures!! Its well put together, and just pops with color!! This era actually had good styling if we’re excluding Wendy’s slightly odd green outfit and Seulgi’s slicked back hair (I know some people like, but I’m really not a fan). I especially love Yeri’s yellow highlights and every other outfit Wendy is wearing (her makeup is lovleyyyy). 8.5/10.

Songs: While the title track, is pretty solid, I gotta say this album has some of Red Velvet’s best bsides. So Good is amazing and Butterflies is in my top ten Red Velvet songs of all time. However, I am not too keen on Sassy as that thing we’re the members sort of groan (is that how one would describe it) after their lines really gets on my nerves. The chorus is lovely, but I have to skip a lot of the song because the groaning/sighing/moaning thing annoys me a lot. Other than Sassy, the other two songs, the English version of RBB and Tasty are pretty decent. Tasty is a little forgettable and ends a bit abruptly, but I wouldn’t skip it. The English version of RBB is also pretty good as english version go. For the rating of this album, I’d give RBB a 7/10, So Good and Butterflies a 9.5/10, Tasty 5/10, and Sassy 4/10. That averages out to about 7/10. 

Conclusion: When adding all the points up together, this albums gets a 30/40, which averages out to 7.5/10. RBB is a fun concept with great styling and two amazing bsides. 

Hello ya'll I'm Radish Dweeb, here's an intro to my kpop opinions. I currently stan 5 groups and am getting into one (txt). Here is a ranking of my 5 ult groups (Mamamoo, Red Velvet, Oneus, Dreamcatcher, Brown Eyed Girls) with my bias, favorite album, and favorite song.

5. Brown Eyed Girls

Oh my lord this group is just amazing, stage presence queens. I feel really bad for the kpop mold, the number of times beg has broken it is ridiculous.

Bias: Miryo possibly my favorite kpop rapper of all time. She just brings so much energy to every rap and has incredible flow. adjfaldjf amazing.

Favorite album: Sixth Sense. The grove in this album. Vendetta, Swing it Shorty, and the Sixth Sense are so good.

4. Dreamcatcher

I used to think girl groups in kpop just did cute concepts, boy was a wrong. The moment I heard the guitar riffts in Piri, I feel in love with this group.

Bias: Dami or Siyeon I can'd decide. Dami has the amazing rap delivery, but Siyeon has them beautiful high notes.

Favorite Album: Dystopia: the tree of language. This album is my favorite for the lamest reason, it's the longest!!! In every Dreamcatcher ep I always have one or two songs I just ADORE. (Wonderland, I Miss You, Silent Night, Sleep Walking ect;) but Dystopia has so many songs that just let me bask in Dreamcatcher. Black and White, In the Frozen, and Red Sun (the rapppppppp) are just great.

Favorite song: Piri. I actually first saw the music video to this song during a really hard time in my life, and it brought so much comfort to me. I was hooked within the first 2 seconds of the video. 3. Oneus

Stage masters with one of my favorite group dynamics and an increible concept to boot.

Bias: While Hwangwoon looks like water on stage and constantly overflows with confidence (he's my bias wrecker), I gotta give this one to Keonhee. His clear tones are amazing, and really stand out during ballads (Blue Sky is my favorite example of this). Also the guy is a goofball with amazing reactions.

Favorite album: Raise Us. We have Twilight, White Night (beautiful song), the meme that is English Girl, and my favorite song Now. Just amazing.

Favorite song: This is a cruel question I've given myself. While I can't say my favorite song, here are my top five favorites (not ordered)

1. Valkyrie: got me into Oneus. Amazing just amazing

2. White night: The "I can love you in the dark" has made me almost cry

3. Now: The chorus is a bop.

4. Blue Sky: Amazing ballad, the live version of this song made Keonhee my bias.

5. A Song Written Easily: In It's time is just a great single/ep (it also has Hide and Seek which is great)

2. Red Velvet

Welcome to the group that made my obsessed with kpop. It all started out with me watching Russian Roulette, and being shocked when I saw chick got pushed into an empty pool (rip Yeri). 5 watches later, I found Peakaboo, Red Flavor, and the gorgeous video that is Bad Boy (keep in mind this was my first girl crush music video, so I was blown away). The rest is history.

Bias: Wendy. She's just such a good person, there are compilations of her caring for members, comforting them, and even stopping in the middle of a sidewalk to put litter in the recycling bin. Wow, she is wholesome. Also, her voice is amazing. Her high note in Bing Bing, adlibs in Psycho (damn you SBS), and her voice in Cool Hot Sweet Love make me break out in a grin every time.

Favorite album: This is very difficult. My favorite comeback has to be Psycho (again, damn you SBS) with its stellar music video and the bside that is In and Out, but it only has 4 songs. I'm going to have to go with The Red for my favorite album. We get Oh Boy (Wendy's vocalsssssss ahhhhh), Red Dress, and Ladies Room which are all amazing. The variety in this album is just overall really great.

Favorite Song: Cool Hot Sweet Love. The climax of this song with the layered vocals of "we gotta cool cool cool, hot sweet love" is legitimately one of the most beautiful things I've heard. ReVeluv for life.

1. MAMAMOO

How do I even start to describe this group. MAMAMOO holds a special place in my heart, and I am so lucky to be graced with their amazing vocals.

Bias: Okay MAMAMOO has my favorite kpop group dynamic of all time. They bring such a fun presence to their stages and are so relaxed with each other during variety shows. They feel like genuine friends and I love it. Unfortunately, my love of MAMAMOO makes it *very* hard for me to choose a bias. My current bias is Wheein. Her voice is the backbone of MAMAMOO and has this gorgeous healing aspect to it. She has also talked about her mental health and publicly supported the LGBT community (which I am a part of) while just being a great person. I also love love love Hwasa (queen), Moonbyul, and Solar, but Wheein is something special

Favorite album: This is very close between Melting and Yellow Flower. While Yellow Flower has my favorite solo song ever (Hwasa's solo Be Calm) and the bop that is Rude Boy, Melting is incredible. Everything from 1cm (the offical Wheein diss track), Friday Night, I Miss You, Cat Fight, and Just is pure gold.
