What a temperature roller coaster these past couple of weeks have been! From cool, to heatwave, to cool again. Although today felt more like fall with highs in the mid 70s, tomorrow we once again warm back up into the 80s, lasting through the weekend. On the bright side, next week is looking cooler and drier.

Another day of what feels like fall weather. But why? Today’s setup is similar to the last two, which involves a big pocket of cool, dry air being pushed southeastward from Canada. Today we also have a strong center of high pressure placed in the Ohio Valley, bringing us clear skies and calm weather today. This additionally acts as a guiding force for the trough, keeping unusually cool air in place.

Perfect fall weather this morning. Highs today are only expected to reach the mid-70s with dew points continuing to fall as a NW breeze sweeps in, meaning conditions will be cool and dry 🍁

The weather is looking picture perfect today, especially for August. Here’s an outlook of what we’re seeing right now through this evening. Highs looking to be near 83°F under mostly sunny skies with the passing of afternoon clouds. Winds will be calm at around 5-10 mph. The best part is the low humidity levels thanks to dry air aloft. Getting gusty out there as POST-tropical storm Debby continues to impact the area while it moves NNE towards central NY. Dew points and PWAT’s have also increased thanks to the ample moisture. The worst of the rain will be west of the region, but that doesn’t mean scattered showers/downpours won’t pass through, especially tonight. Peak gusts reaching 40-50 can be expected through this afternoon, tapering off later this evening before midnight.

Third, you find the 24-hour temperature change, indicating temperatures were 10+ degrees cooler this morning at 6 AM nearly state wide. The majority of the state experienced temps in the low 60s, some even upper 50s this morning.

The second slide represents the 24 hour-change in the 2m dew point temperature, which compares the readings taken from the first slide (current dew point temperature) with the readings taken 24-hours earlier. It can be observed that dew points today are 10-15+ degrees lower than yesterday!

Well, at least we finally got some much-needed rain! Our area had a solid line of scattered thunderstorms along the I-95 corridor, dissipated FAST. Tomorrow will be the last day of this unstable weather as a cold front moves through. A sunny Friday is waiting on the other side☀️

Finally a break from the excessive heat. Lower dew points and near-average temperatures come into play as high pressure builds in☀️

Not a great day to hit the beach. Some storms firing up along the warm front that’s pushing through today. Although some of the much needed rain is clearing out, overcast skies remain ☁️

With a dew point above 70°, the humidity is already making it feel 6 degrees hotter than the actual temperature. It’s looking like we’re gonna reach triple digit heat indexes today 🌡️

Another hot one today. But the good news is tomorrow's high is expected to dip back down to a comfortable 70 degrees.

The cold front moving across PA will move through our region through this evening. Showers and thunderstorms are currently moving in from the SW. Far southern portions of the state are expected to see the greatest levels of instability and shear. Severe thunderstorm watches in effect for these counties until 10:00 PM. Locally damaging winds pose the greatest threat, followed by hail ⚡️
