did you know tht borzois used to be chosen for hunting in russia by doing "hunting trials" basically their trainers would take them into the woods and make them kill a bunch of rabbits and squirrels. but sometimes if there were multiple dogs on the team they'd kill wolves instead (by attacking it from multiple sides and holding it by the neck till the hunter came to kill it.) and hunting teams in russia still sometimes hold wolf trials for their sightdogs. less out of necessity and more for show especially in aristocratic circles . isnt that insane they are just killing wolves
