it really sucks that anxiety is one of those things that will never go away. in fact, wanting it to go away is something you aren't supposed to do cuz it just makes it worse. i've been in therapy for over 10 years and its about the same. im weak and for me its unbearable. ive started self medicating with marijuana and benadryl because the constant suicidal ideation to just make it finally stop has been unbearable
Stop using the word incontinence to just mean urinary incontinence. Fecal incontinence exists and you are not immune to perpetuating higher levels of stigmatization even when working on destigmatizing something already highly stigmatized.
I think we need to kill the sentiment that people lose their right to personhood once they do something bad enough
I don't know who needs to hear this but you need to stop dehumanising people even if those people are "abusers" or "creeps" because you need to understand that you are not immune to doing something equally as bad
Abusers and creeps are not some species of especially heinous animal or alien or monster wearing the face of a human. They're people. And you NEED to drill it into your head that they are people because you NEED to remember that people are capable of doingn heinous shit. And you are a person. And your loved ones are people.
By emotionally classifying people who have done heinous things as subhuman filth incapable of thinking and feeling and acting just like you and me, and by using that emotional dehumanization as a reason to deny those people any compassion or support on a systemic level, you risk becoming blind to abuse/violence perpetrated by someone close to you or even yourself. Because if "abusers don't deserve rights", then you won't ever want to admit or accept that you or a loved one is perpetrating abuse, and that makes stopping the abuse or preventing further abuse much harder. This is how you end up excuaing abusive behaviour on the grounds that, since you don't see someone as a disgusting subhuman pile of garbage therefore they can't possibly be An Abuser, Trademark
And here'a the even harder pill to swallow: since the world isn't split into "abusers" and "good people", in the same way you or someone you love can inflict abuse/violence on others, the people who HAVE inflicted abuse/violence on others can, in fact, change and become better people
There is no bottomless chasm of moral uncleanliness that someone can run off and fall into and get stuck in forever. People can do better. Yes, even those people. You HAVE to accept this. Otherwise not only is there no motivation for anyone to try and do better (which is when people become stuck in a cycle of violence and abuse they don't want to escape), but your idea of a perfect justice system doesn't look any different from Literal Christian Hell. And I HOPE you understand that Literal Christian Hell is, to put it very lightly, not a good justice system.

angels dont know what dogs are, they get a bunch of them in heaven and dont know what to do with them, so all the dogs get put on an island across a rainbow bridge. this is also where they keep behemoth
when men are hiding the fact that they're all broken and battered and bruised up underneath their clothes, they're basically wearing lingerie. to me
It's okay to not want to age. It's not a moral failing, and you don't have to contort yourself into accepting aging just because stopping it entirely is not yet possible with the current medicine. You can just stay yourself, stay wishing for a better world, and it may come.
if I see one more "why age verification is bad" post that doesn't even bother to mention that locking young people out of huge sections of the public sphere - literally the stated goal and primary impact of this shit - is wrong in and of itself I will simply start hitting people with bricks
yes yes biometric data privacy blah blah adults can hypothetically by harmed by this too. what about the immediate and deliberate and not at all hypothetical harm to youth. why are you acting like a potential data leak about what your face looks like, which if it ever happened would at least be generally recognised as a problem, is a more serious issue than cutting millions of people off from information and community and public expression which is happening right now in the open with large scale support
it's got the stench of fucking "banned books week" on it. thousands of adults congratulating themselves for reading books literally no one is trying to stop them from reading while doing nothing to improve access for the young people who are the ones actually having those books made off-limits to them.
Age verification is bad because the internet is how we communicate in the modern world, and young people deserve the right to communicate just as adults do.
And because there is no "young people on the internet" problem that couldn't be solved by educating and materially empowering young people.
Also this explicitly includes neurodivergent young people, Mad young people, and "anti-recovery" young people.
Queer people who are still inexplicably pro-psychiatry and anti-youthlib will sometimes "compromise" like "Sometimes young people having internet privacy is Good, like when queer kids with unsupportive parents discover queer positivity and sex ed, but sometimes young people having internet privacy is Bad, like when Mentally Ill™️ kids whose parents are trying to Get Them Help discover Anti-Recovery!" and no, that one is also Good. Kids need to learn how to discreetly flush their risperdol just as much as they need to learn how to access condoms and binders.

Black Oak Road, Eau Claire, Wisconsin.
it kills me that magic and stuff isn't real. i'm supposed to be on a magical quest with fairies and elves. - tabby
This Juneteenth I want people to know and remember Alfred Irving who was finally freed from chattel slavery in 1942 and Mae Louis Miller who was finally freed from peonage slavery in 1963.
Slavery was not "200 years ago," the last living former enslaved african american passed away in 2014 at 70 years old.
Chattell slavery in America did not go away, it adapted. It became peonage, sharecropping, vagrancy laws, "chain gangs" or convict leasing, and continues into the modern day prison system and the systematic incarceration of black and brown people and expanded to forced detention of immigrants in modern day America.
Do not believe the common narrative that the emancipation proclamation freed every slave. There are many more who were unable to tell their stories out of shame or fear of harm.
I reccomend that people read Slavery by Another Name by Douglas A. Blackmon or watch the 90 minute documentary / film adaptation
If nothing else please remember the names of the two people that American society wants you to forget.
