I listened to and (researched after) a podcast that was talking about American people/cultists who were doing proto-chaos magic type stuff (specifically, the awfulness of LRoHub), and it’s weird to me how even outside belief in the stuff-in particular, the elements of magic/belief brought up by it-it functions through acts of psychological prodding and manipulating that will still make it work regardless of your acceptance of magic or not. It’s got the general elements of psychological breakdown, hypnosis, buying in and foot-in-the-door manipulation, etc. It’s weirder too how a lot of people (like LRoHub) seem to go in thinking/knowing of it as just messing with minds for self gain, but also buy into their own power as time goes on.
