QuiObi May the Fourth 2026 is a gift exchange event of fanfiction or fanart. All participants will receive matches based on their preferences and will create gifts for each other. It’s a secret exchange, so don’t reveal your recipient early! All participants will need an AO3 account to access the signup form and post their creations.

Timeline

You can access the signup form here. When the signup period ends, AO3 will use an algorithm to match everyone based on their preferences.

Guidelines

1. Minimum requirements for the event are at least 500 words for fic (complete) and a clean sketch on unlined paper (or digital art equivalent) for art. AI generated art is not allowed.

2. Respect your assigned recipient’s dislikes and rating preferences

3. Both slash and gen are welcome

4. Please do not publicly discuss or crosspost your work until after the creator reveal on January 1st, so it can remain a secret gift

5. You can post by navigating to the ’Assignments’ section of your AO3 dashboard, clicking on ’QuiObi May the Fourth 2026’ and selecting ’Fulfill’

6. Your story or artwork is due by April 24th at 11:59 pm Eastern. You will be able to edit your assignment during the pinch-hit period, but the work must satisfy minimum requirements by the deadline.

If your work is not posted by April 24th and we have not heard from you, your prompt will be assigned to a pinch-hitter.

7. If necessary, extensions may be obtained by contacting the mods at our email address ([email protected]) 

8. If you cannot finish your gift, please default. You can do so by navigating to the ‘Assignments’ section of your AO3 dashboard, clicking on 'QuiObi May the Fourth 2026’ and selecting 'Default’

9. If you default and your assigned creator also defaults, you will not receive a gift

10. When a participant defaults, their assigned recipient becomes a pinch-hit. If you are interested in being a pinch-hitter, please let us know.

It’s reveal day! Check out the wonderful new works for our QuiObi May the Fourth Gift Exchange for 2025.

One more week to submit prompts before the form closes on March 21st!! Anyone, content creator or not, can submit a prompt. You don’t have to fulfill a prompt to submit one, and you don’t have to submit a prompt to claim one, but of course, you can do both if you wish.

Interested creators can claim prompts at any time.

The QuiObi May the Fourth 2025 is a gift exchange event of fanfiction or fanart. This year, the exchange will be in the form of a prompt meme, which means that *anyone* with an AO3 account can submit a prompt request. This also means that creators can choose which prompt(s) they want to fill instead of receiving an assigned recipient. It’s a Secret gift exchange, so creators will be anonymous until the creator reveal on May 5th.

Prompts may be claimed at any time. The mods will do their best to see that each prompt is claimed, but please be aware that there is a small chance your prompt will not be filled.

Claiming a prompt: use the “Claim” button next to the prompt you want to claim. (You can find open prompts under “Prompts” in the sidebar.) You can claim a prompt without having submitted any of your own.

9. If you cannot finish your gift, please drop your claim as soon as possible. You can do so by navigating to the Claims’ section of your AO3 dashboard and selecting ‘Drop Claim’ on the prompt. If your work is not posted by the April 22nd deadline and we have not heard from you, your claimed prompt will be added to the pinch hit list.
