yu wenzhou started out playing violin but just when his career began to take off he developed a fine tremor in his hand that ended his dreams of being an orchestral musician. he went into teaching and tried not to be bitter about it but in a stroke of luck, he discovering his love of conducting. starting from nothing again was difficult but he quickly became renowned for his interesting and thoughtful score interpretations.

he immediately and viscerally does not like huang shaotian, who is everything a first violinist shouldn't be. he's loud and abrasive and doesn't seem to care about anything but what comes out of his own mouth. yu wenzhou is inclined to think he got the job by nepotism until the first time he hears him play and nearly falls off the podium.

listening to huang shaotian play is like being transported to another world. beautiful and evocative and so technically perfect it takes yu wenzhou's breath away. it doesn't, however, change his opinion of huang shaotian as a person. he seems to have no idea how lucky he is to have his health and his talent, or to be where he is. it grates on yu wenzhou. he makes a point to spend as little time with him outside of practice as possible.

of course, it all changes by accident the day he sees huang shaotian on the street, playing his violin for passing pedestrians. he puts as much care into his street performance as he does his concerts. the wide smiles and boisterous attitude that annoyed yu wenzhou look completely different in the sunlight. there's no denying the man in front of him is someone who loves music and loves to play, and yu wenzhou is a little ashamed he was so caught up on his own past that he couldn't see it.

he makes a note to start spending more time with huang shaotian. they become fast friends.

A lot of pros turned to streaming after retirement, but no one had been as successful in it as Huang Shaotian. It wasn’t easy to talk to an audience while still maintaining high-level play, but to Blue Rain’s former motormouth, it was practically second nature.

However, that was not the only reason for his success. Long time subscribers could pin point the exact moment Huang Shaotian’s popularity as a streamer exploded.

“So let me explain how this is going to go,” Huang Shaotian said while waving over someone. “You may recognize this guy - that’s right! This is my mysterious roommate you’ve all been wondering about. He’s finally agreed to stop snickering at me off screen like a coward and finally start laughing with me on stream instead!”

The appearance of Yu Wenzhou, the next in line of Blue Rain’s captains to quietly disappear off all social media after retirement to supposedly focus on his studies, caused an unprecedented explosion of viewer comments to cover the screen. To be fair, it wasn’t just Yu Wenzhou’s appearance that created the commotion. It was the fact that Yu Wenzhou was holding a blindfold.

“Today, we’re going to do a blindfold run of the new dungeon! No vision, no audio, no potions!” Huang Shaotian explained as Yu Wenzhou put the piece of fabric over his eyes, unfortunately making him completely oblivious to the nature of the ongoing comments.

Yu Wenzhou, who could perfectly see the comments, said nothing about them. Instead, he smiled and casually placed his hands on Huang Shaotian’s shoulders in a gesture of support. “I’ll be helping guide him through the dungeon. Hopefully I won’t be too rusty, I haven’t played in a while.”

Huang Shaotian did not help the ongoing speculation at all by following up with, “Don’t worry everyone, Yu Wenzhou’s mouth is actually much better than his hands.”

We should still feel good about the little things we do! For tidying up, for eating a healthy snack, for going to bed on time, for not criticizing ourselves for a mistake. While it might not seem like much, the least we can do is thank our selves. ♡ All the little things make a big difference in our lives!
