Trip to Astoria Oregon, did full tasters at Buoy Beer and Fort George, as well as a couple of pints at Astoria Brewing. Pretty full day of tasting some good brews and breathing the ocean air.
Beer and Food Pairing Cheat Sheet
So I love beer, craft beer, and I'm native. I haven't ran into too much racism in craft beer communities. Not sure where my threshold is, but I avoid racist beer labels/brands.
This is messed up. On a lot of levels. One- the whole spirit animal thing needs to stop. As do dream catchers, and wolves. It's offensive and tacky. Two- alcohol and natives has a sticky complicated relationship of coping mechanisms, addiction, and isolation.
I've left a comment on the photo, my partner's was deleted. I will email them shortly.
What is this thing?
So this project was dreamed up while having a pint or two (imperial no less!), and this blog is a step towards the dream.
We are two queer women who don't really see much queer presence in the craft brewing scene, even as beer drinkers. It's a white cis male hetero game. We, as two queer women, with non-white backgrounds, we want a small space to see this from our standpoint and create space for others like us. Don't get me wrong, the craft beer community has treated us well, beer people are amazing people. But we want to see more of us.
Our goal is to visit other queers, bond over a well crafted brew and chat about the beer, social issues, movies, etc.
This might just be a blog, or a way to connect with/for others, a beer rec space, or more.
Right now, this project is a fetus. We will turn it into something. Soon.
