We are a community of people who have been forced to flee persecution because of who we are. Many of us now live in refugee camps, (kakuma kenya, Gorom in sudan) where we continue to face hardship, including discrimination, insecurity, limited access to food, healthcare, safe shelter, and other basic needs.

Through this blog, we’ll share our experiences, our resilience, and our hope. Our goal is to raise awareness, challenge misinformation, and connect with people around the world who believe everyone deserves safety, dignity, and the freedom to live as themselves.

**My name is Augustine kayemba I’m queer, and I’m in a refugees camp in east Africa**

**I want to be clear about our survival:**

**We are LGBTQ+ people living in a place where being ourselves puts us at risk every day.**

**For months we’ve been waiting on UNHCR to evacuate us to Canada 🇨🇦🇨🇦**

**Until that happens, we are still here. And we are still trying to survive.**

**So far, funds from people like you have helped us so much:**

**- Food to keep us from going hungry**

**- Basic medicine and hygiene supplies**

**- Safe shelter and emergency support when things got dangerous**

**- Phone credit to stay connected and stay safe**

**But we still need help.**

**While we wait for evacuation, we still need:**

- Food and clean water every week**

- Toiletries, soap, sanitary items**- Transport and medical costs**

Anything to keep us safe and stable for the days ahead**
