- be calm. you got this. be firm and decisive. - give them time to process. tell whoever you’re coming out to, then leave them alone for a while so they don’t act impulsively and get upset. - coming out via text or a similar method is okay. - don’t come out if you aren’t ready, or if your safety isn’t guaranteed. it isn’t worth risking. - be prepared to bust myths about your sexuality (yes mom, bi people can be monogamous) - be prepared to answer questions! leave communication channels open and make sure they know you’re open to answering questions. - be prepared to debate a little, especially if the people you’re coming out to are religious or conservative. - stay calm. you can handle it, and i believe in you.

both to those who are and those who aren’t. take your time, don’t rush, we’re right by your side.

I’m not cutting my skin, but I’m cutting mother earth in two halves, like a juicy peach- that the knife severs effortlessly as I inhale and exhale carbon dioxide, as the pretty, meaningless words get caught in my voice box. So they don’t frame me for a crime I did not commit. My lungs have crumpled.          in on themselves like origami balloons getting the life sucked out of them by the tenuous, pink lips of a teenage girl. I’m not cutting with razorblades, I’m cutting with blades of grass that softly bend in the creases of wind, grass that sings while I curse the ivory moon for just hanging there like a suicide lover. “WHY DON’T YOU DO SOMETHING?” I could spill.         all the plastic rings from the wounds in my puppy-dog eyes and still, I would not be your home. So I spill from other barren places that don’t reflect you. Like my cotton mouth. My bandaged fingertips, and my scraped knees. Remember when we had water fights in the smoke pit at noon on the last day of school? It was summertime when I gotthese scraped knees. I dumped a whole bucket of rain over your head and you were so pissed that we wrestled in the gravel and the cigarette butts. We didn’t even care. My knees got bloody on the rocks and you cut your elbows, but I won and then gave you a Band-Aid. I kissed it better and dried your hair with a towel made of little strands of my shirt. You called it true friendship, and I wish I had the courage to tell you. I wasn’t cutting because I wanted to die or because I wanted to feel something. I was cutting because I wished your lips kissed each place that these blades of grass graced. But, that was high school. I didn’t even know what gay was yet. I didn’t have a brave heart, so I couldn’t come out to you, Steph. I was gay and you said that was wrong and it hurt me. But now I’m happy. I’ve got a girlfriend with freckles like stars.         and scars that I want to kiss so many times she forgets where they came from. It’s Ironic, you turned out to be bisexual 2 years after the smoke pit at high school. Now you’re graduated and I’m still a drop out-  But it’s been forever since any blades have touched my skin, and if they did… I’m sure I would bleed rainbows.

TIME Magazine’s cover honouring those killed at Pulse in Orlando. 49 names and ages, so many it covers the title. If you ever questioned the consequences of ignorance and hate, there are now 49 graves as proof. Homophobia kills. 

So we’ve been checking the St. John’s Pride site but as of right now no official dates/events have been posted. But this is just to say that for any of our followers who want to go to pride events but don’t want to go alone/ don’t know what to wear/ where to go/ what they’re even supposed to do at pride events or or or or– If you have any questions please don’t hesitate to ask. Like last year, the option is always open for you to go with our group if you want a little squad to go with! We try to hit as many events as possible, especially the parade and the bonfire, so if you don’t want to go alone please feel free to contact us here and we can arrange a meet up and go together! ***Anybody who is underage should check with their parents or guardians to make sure it’s okay with them for you to go to the events with us! If you don’t feel comfortable telling your parents for any reason we do encourage you tell a friend where you’re going and who you’re going with! Hope everyone gets out there this year! Turnouts mean everything:-)
