If you have a headcanon for a character being gay when they’ve clearly also shown interest in a character with a different gender, you’re helping with bisexual and pansexual erasure and you really should stop.
Where to start reading Wanda Maximoff?
Let’s start with her first appearance in Uncanny X-Men #4 and then followed by her origin in Avengers #234, now we’re gonna skip in time and read the retelling of their origin in Avengers Origins: The Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver and then continue on with
Uncanny X-Men #11, 27
Avengers v1 (especially #16, 30, 36, 49, 53, 75-76, 81, 91, 104, 108, 110, 113, 126, 128, 140, 151, 156, 160, 181-183, 185-187 189, 200, 211)
Giant Size Avengers #4
Vision & Scarlet Witch v1
Avengers v1 #233-235, 242-243, 254-255

ok if you’re going to make a photoset about bi steve please don’t refer to him as ”the bisexual.” it’s not a noun. it’s an adjective.

Hello. Thor's a woman. Captain's America's black. How can you not call this progressiveness? Marvel has like a million female led comics to DC's one? three? doesn't really matter. there's not enough. the mcu introduced so many kickass female characters. Name one from the dccu. Sorry, but the fact that there are still dc fans out there is pathetic.
haha oh my god this is embarrassing for you please stop
u know what fuck it
and good god, at least spend half a second googling this before you come into my inbox saying stupid shit. both the new 52 and marvel now have had at least 10 female-lead titles, and they’ve both canceled 3 of those since they each launched. DC received heavy criticism for the treatment of female characters in its reboot BECAUSE they had been known for strong female characters for most of their history, and people were angry to see them go backwards. DC had always been known as the big two company with iconic female characters. batgirl, catwoman, supergirl and power girl, starfire, lois lane, harley quinn, batwoman, poison ivy, black canary, fucking WONDER WOMAN, who is THE FEMALE SUPERHERO IN THE MINDS OF EVERYONE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER OR NOT THEY READ COMICS.
and ok. DC has put out ONE MOVIE so far and one tv show, to marvel’s 10. tell me, of the 10 mcu films and tv show, which one was primarily about a female character?? oh that’s right, NONE OF THEM. the majority of marvel’s female characters in the films have been introduced as love interests, and ALL of them have been white, and of all of the female characters introduced so far, only natasha is considered an avenger and main superhero, and she is not considered “worth” a solo film. and idk if you actually saw man of steel but lois lane and faora-ul were pretty “kick ass,” despite the film’s flaws. like pal, I love all of marvel’s female characters, but it’s clear that marvel’s priorities do not lie in adding as many female characters as male ones, and definitely not in telling their stories.
and now that marvel is moving into their third phase, the flaws in their marketing and plans for their extended universe are becoming more apparent, which is why marvel fans (NOT DC FANS I’D LIKE TO POINT OUT) are criticizing them so heavily. we are frustrated with the lack of action marvel is taking, which is why we are so vocal about it on this stupid fucking website. it’s not because we hate marvel, or because we’re diehard DC fans. DC fans aren’t saying SHIT about marvel, because they CAN’T, because DC is TERRIBLE AND THEY KNOW IT. this is all marvel fans, who want the franchise we love to do better.
and come on. right now, the ONLY areas that marvel are beating DC in are their quantity and the quality of their shared universe and in how they handle their PR. DC is floundering in trying to recreate what marvel has going for it, and yes, they are struggling a bit. man of steel was definitely nowhere near as good a film as most of marvel’s movies, and arrow is, well. arrow. but the flash looks amazing, and constantine could pull through. plus DC has shown it’s more willing to racebend major characters. iris west and her father were cast with black actors, and as of right now, batman vs. superman looks like it is going to have more major characters of color than the avengers due to dwayne johnson and jason momoa’s casting.
[sidenote: arrow, unlike AoS, is doing more to bring in characters from the comics, which is apparently a good selling point for them. arrow also was the first to have an openly queer superhero (and supervillain? idk super-ambiguous assassin character I guess), with sara lance, instead of marvel’s “let’s adapt a prominent lesbian character and not reference her sexuality ever, and then kill her” approach. DC comics had been doing more for queer representation than marvel, although they fucked it up a few times. like DC’s not perfect, they’re erasing john constantine’s bisexuality, for one, but NO ONE EVER SAID THEY WERE.]
stan for marvel. that’s fine. but understand you’re stanning for a company who has continued to hire a known sexual harasser. you’re supporting a company who whitewashed prominent jewish/romani characters and then are having them volunteer for a nazi organization. kevin feige has made repeated statements that imply he believes diversity is a negative quality that should not be a priority for marvel. again, as far as we know, they have killed victoria hand, who could have been the first lesbian character in their universe, without ever mentioning her sexuality. claudia kim’s casting is the FIRST TIME a woman of color who is not painted green will appear in a prominent role in marvel’s films. they turned a character who had been cast with a latino actor into a member of a nazi organization. they also turned a character who is PLAYED BY A JEWISH ACTOR into a nazi. doctor strange and ant-man are the only solo movies announced for phase 3, and a black panther film is still nowhere in sight.
in the comics, marvel has fridged sharon carter, who is one of the main women in the captain america mythos, right before she showed up in the mcu, just to make steve rogers really sad. and that same writer is the one I mentioned above, who wrote a tone-deaf racial-based comic advocating assimilation rather than acceptance and then told people to drown in hobo piss if they disagreed with it. he has also put a white male original character in a title that had last belonged to a female character, who is now dead and will probably remain dead because no one remembers rikki barnes. they canceled iron patriot—the first 616 solo book starring a black character—before it was even released, making it a 5-issue limited series.
like we are not trying to get you to hate marvel. most of us, like I said, are marvel fans!!! we love marvel, that’s why we’re HERE. but we accept its flaws, and are trying to get them to change. you don’t have to like DC but you’re a fucking idiot if you actually think marvel is without sin. and come on, DC fans are sticking around because they like the characters, that’s the nature of fandom. if you’ve ever been a fan of an extended series, whether it’s comics or a tv show or a book series or a movie franchise, you KNOW there are ups and downs in the quality of it, but you are STILL A FAN.
acknowledge the problematic elements of your fave. you don’t have to tear down other fandoms who know how shitty their canon is in order to make yours seem better? because all it does is make marvel fans look like, idk, the sherlock fandom. or the supernatural fandom. do you really want to be the supernatural fandom? don’t be the supernatural fandom.
DC: Wonder Woman is too difficult to find a movie audience for- Marvel: YO YOU LIKE BLACK WIDOW? HERE SHE IS IN THE NEXT CAPTAIN AMERICA MOVIE WITH A TON OF SCREENTIME AND MAJOR ASSKICKING SKILLS DC: We can’t allow the lesbians in Batwoman to get married in the comic, sorry. Marvel: HEY GUESS WHAT WE’RE GONNA FEATURE A GAY WEDDING ON THE COVER OF AN X-MEN ISSUE DC: The new direction for storytelling needs to be dark, gritty, mature and cynical. Marvel: DUDE CHECK IT OUT LOKI GOES SPEED DATING IS THAT NOT THE BEST SHIT EVER DC: After years of rumors, the Superman/Batman movie is finally coming, but with a new actor and suit for Batman and MAYBE a cameo from Wonder Woman. Marvel: PHASE 2 MOTHERFUCKERS EVERYONE IS IN EVERYONE’S MOVIE AND THERE AIN’T NO STOPPIN US NOW DC: We can try to add maybe one or two ‘people of color’ to our lineup…maybe… Marvel: NEW MS MARVEL THAT’S MUSLIM AMERICAN, BITCHES. DC: We feel no problem with Batman’s vengeful personality being like wet cardboard. Marvel: NEW LATINA GHOST RIDER WHO SEEKS VENGEANCE WHILE TAKING HIS AWEET LIL BRO FOR ICE CREAM DC: We can’t mention any superhero titles in our movies, that’s ridiculous. Marvel: FUCK YEAH YOU WANT A RACOON VOICED BY BRADLEY COOPER WITH A GIANT GUN? YOU WANT VIN DIESEL PLAYING A TREE? AMY FUCKING POND PLAYING A SEXY BALD SPACE PIRATE? HERE YOU FUCKERS GO DC: Our fanbase is mostly white males, I’m sure our focus is- Marvel: NEW SHE HULK LINE WHERE SHE GOES TO COURT THEN SAVES NEW YORK DC: Wait- Marvel: NEW FEMALE THOR DC: I didn’t- Marvel: NEW BLACK CAPTAIN AMERICA Marvel: TAKE ALL THIS COOL SHIT MARVEL BE OUTIE Marvel: PEACE
I’ve seen this post at least a million times on my dash this last week and it’s driving me insane. Did the person who wrote it not even look at DC? I don’t care about publisher alignments, but temporary fill-ins for headliner characters (Thor and Captain America) are nice but they don’t even remotely approach DC’s more consistent pursuit of actual headlining women and characters of color. You can’t, can’t pretend to be a critical fan of anything if you’re willing to in front of the entire site defend the marvel cinematic universe for their portrayal (or, in this case, non-portrayal) of diversity and their existing characters of color.
What it comes down to is this: Marvel took an existing diverse team and parred it back down to white men and one white woman. DC’s new franchise is constantly announcing and leaking the expanded diversity of their teams. The main headliner team for DC, IN THE UPCOMING MOVIES, is made up of (in addition to the big three: Super, Bat, and Wonder) Aquaman, Green Lantern, Cyborg, and Shazam — all played by men of color. The majority of the team.
The men of color in the Avengers film franchise thusfar have been reduced to supporting characters in supporting movies.
Who’s pandering to their white male fan base again?
Hello, lovelies! As we all know, DashCon 2014 is coming up in just a few weeks! My lovely friend larissafae is coming down to visit for a little over a week at that time so she, Nick and I plan to attend together and have a blast! That said, my retail job has not been giving me the hours I typically can expect from the summer months, and a few financial aspects such as hotel costs and transportation need to be taken into account!
With this in mind, I am opening a special commission drive to help fund our trip! Along with the commissions I always offer, I am also offering a special deal: traditional commissions - physical pencil and ink that can be shipped to you or picked up from me at DashCon! Sketches will go for $10, inked for $30, and colored with Copic markers will be $50 a piece; each will be limited to two (2) characters a piece and each will be sealed in protective sheets! This is a limited time offer - after I reach our goal for the weekend, they will no longer be offered, so if you are interested, now is the time to ask!
The is also a donation button on my blog you can throw money at if you so wish! Any little bit helps! My present goal is $500 to help cover hotel, travel, and food. If this goal is met, I will not only be at DashCon, but I will be giving away free WTNV prints to any and all who find me! Cecils and Carlos and Kevins galore!
Also, larissafae is doing a writing/fic commission fund to help her build funds as well! Check it out~ Her writing is incredible!
Any and all help will be appreciated!
For many years, Black superheroes have been dismissed as sidekicks, imitators of established white heroes, or are accused of having no role outside of blaxploitation film contexts. Yet the importance of a Storm, Luke Cage, Black Panther, or Jon Stewart as Green Lantern or Miles Morales as Spiderman cannot be understated. Their entry into comic books also served as entry to the hearts and imaginations of black children, confirming that they too can be superheroes and could one day save the world.

Captain America is bisexual and mystic is night crawlers father
Mystique as Nightcrawler's father is our most lamented could-have-been in comics canon; she almost was!
As for the Captain (Bucky or Steve)? Hell yeah.

124/365 - BISEXUAL STEVE ROGERS 2014
lois lane is a trans woman and absolutely nothing can convince me otherwise
Someone's sent this in, phrased exactly the same way before. I'll make a headcanon graphic soon, but I love the idea of Lois as trans.
I love Lois' confidence, intelligence, and take-no-shit attitude. Her being trans also plays well with our idea of Superman as genderless.
Headcanon: Tony Stark is a closeted bisexual. Only Pepper, Rhodey, and Rumiko knew about his sexuality, as well as the few men he secretly dated/had flings with, which include Henry Hellrung and Tiberious Stone.
We posted this one before with a graphic, but I'd like to post it again because man do we not talk enough about Henry Hellrung.
Tiber Stone deserves more coverage too, the two timing tart.

She's blue, she's beautiful, and she's badass — oh, and she's bisexual, too. Mystique is one of the most well known X-Men in the franchise (in part because of the movies) and that's definitely well-deserved.
Who am I? That, my dear, is an excellent question. Though not one easily answered.
She was introduced under her Raven alias in Ms Marvel #16 (1978) and reveal herself as Mystique two issues later. Of most of the main-cast mutants, we may know the least about Mystique — we never (and probably will never) learn her real name, or her age.
Throughout Marvel's main timeline, Mystique has time and time again duped the X-Men and the rest of humanity and ascended to major positions of power. She has served as the Deputy Director of the Defense Advanced Research Planning Agency (DARPA) in the United States Department of Defense, ascended in German nobility, and organized the third incarnation of the Brotherhood of Evil Mutants herself.
She is both the mother of Sabretooth's son, Graydon Creed, and of Nightcrawler — and the adopted mother, along with her lover Destiny, of Rogue for a short time.
Originally, Nightcrawler was set to be the son of Irene (Destiny) and Mystique - Mystique as the biological father - but the choice was shut down due to censorship laws that made overt depictions of homosexual relationships in comics illegal. Instead, Kurt is the son of Mystique and Azazel while she was married to Baron Christian Wagner, whom she later abandons after killing her husband to protect him.
This Brotherhood (under Mystique) clashed both with the X-Men and the Avengers (and obviously human authorities), and in it Mystique was joined for a time by her daughter Rogue. Rogue eventually left her team and mother in favor of the X-Men to learn control.
Mystique is complicated, inherently (and overtly) queer, and a considerable mystery to the characters that interact with her and to the reader. Her problems are complex, and her motivation is at once emotional and distant. She's heartless and passionate, fierce and unstinting, and she refuses to be defined - both by us, and by anyone who crosses her path.
