Fuck Joanne
You are so fucking stupid it's ridiculous lol. Anyway long live Queen Jo.
You can keep sucking Joanne's cock. She still will not pick you.
and if you read one of those books (which i did as a teen) you’d find out she has some interesting word choices that make me puke inside
Man. You took one for the team. I couldn't get through Harry Potter because for a self proclaimed "feminist" that was apparently "so oppressed" she had to use her initials instead of her very feminine first name Joanne. She's actually very terrible at writing women.
Picture this. Only 4 books are published. The 5th is about to be published. I finally let someone bully me into buying the first four in a box set. I can't even get through the first book because "Isn't this a coed school? Why is Hermione like? The only girl going there?"
Apparently it doesn't get better either. In later books when they fix their "token girl character" problem it seems like ALL OF THE GIRLS in the story cannot exist without being attached to a man, and most of their defining personality traits are their relationship to one of the male leads.
I cannot.
For a feminist she writes women remarkably bad.
Not even her real initials, she adds a k so it sounds more masculine
JK Rowling.
Because she's a joke
Like "oh jk just kidding. I'm not a real author just like I'm not a real feminist"
Look at these two ignorant rape culture supporting Misogynists and homophobes spouting rape culture
And they show they support a culture of male sexual violence , Misogyny and homophobia. Their disturbed postings show they hate women who have survived male violence who name the issue
And they all need their hard drives checking
1) Being a survivor of sexual violence does not erase her work in regurgitating transphobic rhetoric which has caused an increase of transphobic hate crimes. Actually. Being a victim of violence or trauma does not erase them being a shitty person.
2) Tramsgender women are 4 times more likely than Cis-gendered women to be victims of violent crime
3) 1 in 4 women in the UK have been sexually assaulted and 97% of women in the UK have experienced sexual harassment. "She's a sexual assault survivor." YEAH! A LOT OF WOMEN ARE. IT'S KINDA A REALLY BIG PROBLEM. I don't know why it pisses me off, but for some reason, it just does... like that kind of argument just... assumes that... being the victim of sexual violence is so incredibly rare that the person you're talking to can't have possibly also experienced it, and therefore no one else is allowed to criticize her because she was a survivor is sexual violence and there's no way anyone sense experienced that.
4) She doesn't like women. Like... that's why I hated the Harry Potter series. She DOESN'T support women. I was... like... 9 years old and I couldn't put my finger on what made me so uncomfortable about the Harry Potter books. And it's because she made all this fuss about discrimination about being a female author, but she wrote virtually NO strong female characters by this point (note only the first 4 books were out). I didn't have the words for it as a 9 year old girl trying to learn to love reading for the first time, but I was so confused how a female author that talks about her own experiences like that could neglect writing women so much. That's why I reached for other authors. Now I'm much older, and I understand it more. She just doesn't like women. She can PRETEND to like women all day, but as an actual AFAB person in STEM that's experienced misogyny, I have far higher standards for female representation.
Even in her later books when she INCLUDED more women. She had the money, the fame, the ability to actually create positive change in how women can be viewed through her work and... you know I kinda wish she didn't include women at all. They are all reduced to love interests, with the sole existence to further the male emotional development. Even Hermione. The only exceptions are like... Mcgonical and Luna Lovegood. It's writing like that which ENCOURAGES male violence because it sets a standard that women cannot exist independently of men.
"You're reading too much into this!" No. You're not giving enough credit to the role our media plays in our perception of the world.
