“In my 11th grade of high school I went on a school trip to the concentration camps in Poland. My beloved grandfather lost his family in the Holocaust, survived Auschwitz and immigrated to Israel alone when he was only 16. When I, a protected girl born with a silver spoon in my mouth, stood in Madjanek in front of a mountain of human ashes, my eyes filled with tears and I started shaking uncontrollably. When I returned home I shared the experience with and cried alongside my grandfather.
