EYES DARTING ACROSS the subway , elliot allowed his gaze to wander across the bustling street before looking back down at his phone . for a moment , he seemed to read a message that had flashed across the screen before tucking the device away , heading over towards a character on the street who was currently being eyed by a man who could be described as nothing less than â sketchy â .
â AH , THERE YOU are , sweetheart . iâve been looking all over for you ! â elliot suddenly approached the individual , wrapping his arm around the waist of the stranger before pulling them away , leaning down to mutter near them , â play along . heâs going to rob you otherwise . thank me later . â
Marisol had been checking her own phone. Things had gone well at her meeting, well sort of meeting. It had definitely been in her favor. So all she had to worry about was keeping her people in line. Everything else was falling into place. The âsketchyâ character was one sheâd eyed, making sure he wasnât going to get any bright ideas. But if he did, it wasnât as though she ever went anywhere without protection. Even though she hadnât brought anyone with her, she knew how to take care of herself, protect herself from unsavory folk.
When she heard the male approach and speak, she chuckled to herself, biting her lip to keep from making a comment. After all, heâd been sweet enough to try and come to her rescue. â Ah, querido, I wondered how long youâd keep me waiting. â Chuckling, she nodded, licking her lips as she allowed him to move her, following his lead. Though taking a car wouldâve been faster and âsaferâ, things were becoming entertaining very quickly. When the âsketchyâ individual was out of earshot and she thought it was âsafeâ, she turned to him with a smile and placed her hand on his chest. â Thank you for that. Itâs been a long time since Iâve had a man try and protect me without me paying him. â It wasnât like he need to know that she was never in any danger, it was too sweet after all.
