Episode 9 is looking like it’ll be focused a lot on Jax. Jax is based on Ted from IHNMAIMS, and there’s a scene near the end of the story where Ted snaps after AM’s torture breaks him and he mercy kills the other humans. AM then turns him into a mouthless blob and tortures him forever. Episode 9 might be when Jax has a moment where the bleakness of the circus breaks him and he tries to mercy kill the other humans (maybe causing them to abstract?). There’s no AM (Caine) around to torture him, but living alone forever might be torture enough.

But IHNMAIMS doesn’t have a counterpart for Pomni. She might be the one who can save Jax and the others from death/abstraction, but it could come at a cost to herself. I think we’ll get a bittersweet ending, but not before lots of suffering.
