It’s almost like he valued making people go !?! more than continuity or consistency 🤷🏻♀️
In writing his final season, Rothenberg forgot, or more likely simply chose to ignore, the previous six-season narrative in ways too numerous to recount.
He distorted the story so thoroughly that he essentually told one story in seasons 1-6... but wrote an ending for an entirely different story in season 7. Thereby completely abandoning any shred of continuity in terms of theme, plot, characterization, or point of view. Not to mention all the plot threads that were simply dropped without explanation, and others that were so thoroughly retconned that they were rendered unrecognizable.
And now he makes the pretrense of insisting that we never understoid his story in the first place. All of us. And entire fandom.
If this was the final installment in a book series, I presume the publishers would never have let him get away with trashing his story like that. So I can only wonder what the CW really thinks of the utterly incomprehensible narrative choices he made for the endgame.
