Night version because why not

It still takes place in New York and all that, but this time there's no Mystic City. Instead, it's another planet which is basically Homeworld and there are just warp pads hidden all over the Earth's surface. 

Most yokai are relatively peaceful and can live alongside humans in secret. Can't say the same for Draxum though, since he wants yokai to rule the world and stuff like that. 

(Side note on warp pads: The boys have zero clue at first what they were since they haven't been in contact with any yokai stuff for a good chunk of their lives.)

Basically, all yokai are gems and mutants are like half gems.

The turtles still are turtles, with Lou Jitsu's DNA and all that, but this time they also have gems!

Instead of oozequitoes there are gemsquitoes, and they're more like bees that sting and stick onto you. Once they're stuck, they transform whoever got bit and turn them into gems! (Or at least the closest thing possible since they can't be full gems with a physical form made of light and stuff)
