          ok, that makes the faunus frown. not an angry sort of look, more sad, blond head cocked to the side, strong arms crossing over an almost barren chest. his crest, the symbol of his ancestors, jostles a little around his neck.

         “…just cause you got a crappy start doesn’t mean anything,” like his namesake, the simian always, always tries to find the good. the bright. the happy. he’ll be damned if he lets the crow damn himself from the start, “and it’s…it’s not the same. sorry man, but there’s no half-way. you either know, or you don’t.”

          his initial response is nothing short of a scowl. he knows more, understands more than this kid seems to think he does. not that qrow blames him. he’s too tired to feel anything but disappointment - disappointment in himself. he said too much and now he’s here digging a hole six fucking feet deep.

         sun looks as if he’s contemplating the man’s answer for a moment, before he’s shaking his head, “no offense, my dude, but i don’t think you are. if you aren’t born with it.” that sounds kind of elitist and he realizes it as soon as it comes out of his mouth, so the simian continues.

         “like, i mean, you can hide it pretty well. to the point even your own nieces didn’t know about it. me?” golden tail curls and flexes behind him as if to prove a point, “i can’t. not like i’d want to, faunus and proud, but…makes for a different life, y’know?”

          honestly, he never thought of it in that way. it’s not something qrow really enjoyed thinking about at the end of the day. tended to be the last thing on his mind - shunted to the back of the queue as soon as he could manage. still, he offers a vacant shrug towards the younger of the two. “ain’t somethin’ that ever really bothered me ta be honest, kid.”
