Do you truly accept yourself the way you are? - Years ago I can clearly recall several occasions when I rather tortoured than loved myself. Took years to realise that in order to love and accept others, first I have to love myself- at the end of the day I am spending majority of my time with my own soul. For this, I self isolated for 13 months and journalled all my thoughts and emotions. It worked. 🌼 How is your self-healing doing? “I spent years in private practice listening to people’s ego speak narratives about who they were. “I’m a loser.” “I just will never be in a healthy relationship” “I can’t make my idea a reality” “I’ll never stop making the same mistakes” “I’m embarrassed because I’m still in the same situation.” This is what sitting across from someone who feel stuck will look like. This is what it is to be completely identified to ego stories as truth or reality. Our egos are always working to protect us from experiencing the painful past in the present. When we’ve experienced childhood trauma in the form of emotional neglect or abandonment, we will be chronically comparing ourselves. We will have cyclical thoughts of worse case scenarios. We will have narratives in the mind of “if only” (if only I was thinner, smarter, younger) This is the ego creating mental resistance. Mental resistance that will stop us from connection + from being seen or heard. Because at one time this meant the people we needed most weren’t there. And that abandonment is so painful, so terrifying, the ego will do anything to avoid it. In this unconscious pattern we block ourselves from our own true potential. Your ego will protect you, but that protecting will keep you in the familiar. Even if that familiar is miserable. Witnessing the ego as separate from who we are is part of our healing journey.
