The Smell of Sharpened Pencils
Ah it's that time of year again. Â Time to pull out the old notebook paper and #2 pencils, time for note taking, time to catch up with old friends and meet a few new ones. Â
If you haven't guessed it yet, I am talking about the start of the school year. Â
After a crazy internship filled summer, it's kinda nice to getting back home and starting a new school year, and because I will NOT be working 50+ hours a week I WILL be trying to post more of my q^3's.

Question: What Have You Learned Recently?
With summer being halfway through I have been thinking about classes and getting back to school. ** I'll pause for the moaning and groaning to subside** Anyway, I didn't realize how many opportunities college has really given me over the past two years. Â I've learned so much over the past two years, and subsequently I've had an opportunity to grow into a very different person.
SMU's allowed me to met some of the greatest people I know (you know who you are), provided me access to some of the greatest internship opportunities and even sent me to New York for the PRWeek Student of the Year Competition.
These events really have taught me some crucial life lessons.
1) Be open to putting yourself in positions to meet new people, you may just find your new best friend.Â
2) Learn how to pack all your luggage in a carry on bag. It will let you get in and out of the airport.
3) Dream Big. Real Big. Â The things you think will never happen have a tendency to come true. Â
4) Do as many internships as possible. Â They open up doors to potential job opportunities, as well as introducing you to so many amazing people.
and finally...
5) Learn the definition of me time. Without it you WILL go crazy.

Question: Why am I addicted to Apple?
Every girl has some kind of vice. Shoes, make up, clothes... You name it. Mine is Apple, no not the fruit, but the technology genius. Yes, I stood in line for 3 hours in the middle of the summer, during a family reunion, in order to get the first iPhone. Three iPhone upgrades and an iPad 2 later, I still can't get enough.
As a communications student I respect the amazing advances in communication Apple products have enabled. Just a short five years ago we would have never thought we would be able to have some "FaceTime" with someone during a simple phone call. Just last month I was able to watch my sister graduate and give her salutatorian speech from three states away. All because of this amazing little feature.
The Apple communications team also knows how to put a campaign together. Marketing, branding, public relations and advertising blend together, and produce a clear message through a unique mix of strategies and tactics. After tackling my own set of internships, I can honestly say it is amazing how this corporation is able to produce a single voice so effortlessly. (You can't tell this would probably be my dream internship, can you?)
On the purely superficial side, I love being the first to have these amazing gadgets. The design is sleek and sophisticated, while being extremely user friendly. All while supporting the single voice, created by the communications team. When anyone looks at a apple store they know the set up will be the same as the one 50 miles away. Ok, now I am done with my love note to Apple, signing off my iPad now.
